I just use the same stuff I use on my windows, Autoglym Fast Glass and a couple of microfiber cloths.

It's safe for plastic screens (and tint) so I kill two birds

Whatever you do don't use lanolin based products like mothers vlr.
It marks the screen..found that out by mistake when I got overspray from the dash.

The 18 inch wheels are wider than either 16 or 17 inch and that's why they recommend the steering rack limiters. I'm only going on what I read on the Ford website.
Perhaps the Ford website is wrong? It wouldn't be the first time...

I think in this case, it's definitely not. The only way to be certain is to poke one's head under the car, and have a look.

You guys no doubt are more knowledgeable than me.

But I would be cautious about using window cleaners or isopropyl alcohol. I use isopropyl alcohol for the inside of windows. It does such a good job, you cannot tell if they are up or down! But I'm nervous about what it might do to a touch screen, especially after a few applications.

The following could be relevant too:

The product I use is safe for tinted windows and clear plastics. You need your windows tinted if you can't tell if they're up or down

Are you saying that I'm telling lies? I have an LZ Titanium - you don't. I park my car in a basement every day that previously required me to perform three 3-point turns to get into and out of in my LW Titanium. I can easily get in and out now without performing any 3-point turns in my LZ Titanium. My LZ Titanium has a significantly smaller turning circle than the LW did, and does not have stoppers. That's a fact! Now moving on...

I certainly am not! You have stated that your Titanium does not have steering rack limiters. I have pointed to two separate web pages that indicate 18 inch wheels require them. I never said Titaniums have 'stoppers' but one other person has suggested that they do. The likely scenario, based on your experience, is that the Titanium has a modified steering set up to retain the original turning circle. Those of us on 16 or 17 inch wheels would need rack limiters if we upgraded to 18 inch wheels.

I'll put my 2 cents worth in here. I have had an LW Titanium and also now have an LZ Titanium. Both have 18inch rims.
The LW turns like the proverbial Titanic - the LZ is by far much better. I do not knw what they have done with the LZ but it is a big improvement.
Have to also say that I am disappointed that the glove box on the LZ has shrunk considerably in size compared to the LW.

I'd say by your comparison, it may very well be some mods in the steering geometry or even the guards. It would be interesting to find out what these modifications are just for the sake of understanding makes the Titanium different. Another possibility, the rims on the Titanium may not be wider than the either the 16 or 17 inch rims, so the turning circle would be retained. There is no details in the brochure about the width of the rim, but the tyre size on the Titanium would suggest a wider rim is incorporated.

My 'Change Engine Oil' warning display started to appear on my display today. The car must be impatient as it's booked in for it's first 12mth service on Friday so jumped the gun by a couple of days.

She's only done 13,860 km

Now that's creepy! Same exact thing happened to me. I had just booked it in for the 12 month service (aka 15,000km) but I only had 13.5k on the clock. Smart car.

Mine was serviced a few weeks ago and the warning message came up the next day. 8000km/12months.

Great job by the service technician, missing out the reset procedure.
I reset it myself that day after a quick google.

Are you able to reset the warning prior to the message coming up? If no then the tech would not have been able to??

Should be done on the day of service to set the 15000km/12month.
Either via pedal method or thru obd2 (if an option).

I've had my LZ just over 12mths old and haven't had a problem with stone chips. The bonnet is basically horizontal from the grill back so probably no where to mount one anyway.

Yeah, the bonnet doesn't seem to be an issue. The paint chipping on the bumper on the other hand, seems very easily chipped.

I'm yet to see a dash mat for an LZ Mk2 with the Sync 3 dash (centre dash speaker). Has anyone been able to buy one yet?

I think there's no difference between SYNC2 or SYNC3 dash design. As for that centre dash speaker, where is that located? I have a Trend, so not sure if what you're referring to is the dash ventilation; used to have it on my Golf and is designed to cool the air immediately beneath the windscreen, a spot that usually gets very hot.

I connected my laptop to the car using Forscan and was able to edit some of the car settings. For example, I was able to enable Auto Door locking. So now when I drive at 10km/h the doors will auto lock.

The system is there and it does work. No idea why Ford didn't allow us to enable it as per the manual.

That's interesting. I am wondering if you are able to detail what steps you took for those of us unfamiliar with Forscan. It would be good to take the info a a Ford dealership and see if they will enable it.

Enter in your VIN number, basically any values there, you can change in Forscan.

Although, you dont want to change most of it. Or its unnecessary.

Maybe one of the following:
  • Tire size
  • Total wheel dimension
  • Disable ESP and ABS
  • Disable puddle lamps
  • Disable motor in mirrors
  • Belt minder
  • If you add any features, that wasn't available (multi colour ambient lighting, or trailer package)
  • For manual drivers, the shift light

Im not going to comment on the ability of a service department. I think they mostly don't want to, or Ford hasn't given them the ability to do so?

Regardless, this is not something for the faint-hearted. I wouldn't want to give the instructions which may inadvertently damage their car, and potentially voids their warranty.

The instructions are there on the internet, you need to be careful, read everything first over twice. Never rush or assume.

I connected using the car to a laptop using a Openport 2.0 (from a mate), then followed instructions from here. http://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1932

I have had my lz focus sport for three months now, and for the most part find it a really great vehicle and good value for the price, however my better half is complaining about the "sports seats" both passenger and drivers.

She claims that they are too narrow and cause pain in her right leg whilst either a passenger or driving for an extended period, I myself partially agree with her,i suffered a little from "numb bum syndrome "after a trip to hervey bay this week, I have to qualify this by saying that neither of us are big people and I never had this problem with our previous vehicle an sri-z cruze hatchback, unfortunately a 20 min test drive is not enough time with a vehicle for problems such as this to surface.

anyway enough rambling, I would like some feedback from other lz focus owners here on their opinion, good bad or indifferent as to how they find the front seats in the new focus as it is looking likely that I will have to unload the focus for something else and quite probably loose a wad of cash in the process!.

Any feedback would be most welcome.
