As busy as today was, it was nice to get the appreciation from sorting out the unusually high amount of major breakdowns i fielded today. They were all from long term clients who over the years i have forged a social bond with and yeah it was drop everything to then be under the pump, but to be able to take 5 and catch up on the social level with people you have got to know over the years once the fire is out so to speak makes going to work easier. I worked sunday doing an essential services test on a new site thats now my problem (and by new i mean brand new) and i find out from the bloke who did the work it was never finished. So that caused the main headache from today, but atleast now i know and also dont feel stupid when finding abstract faults. That may sound like an extreme irritation, but i get some form of satisfaction finding out how things work. There is no such thing as too much information. I dont necessarily enjoy work all the time, but i do like succeeding in things and coming under on jobs and dealing with (good) people.

Just having a job again is a good feeling. I have a lot of bills coming up but at least know I will be able to pay them.

My two dogs always make me feel better, everyday, without fail.
I rang a motor sport business today & the bloke could not do enough to help. He not only knew his vast range of products intimately, he pointed out the issues I could run into, such as adapting an aftermarket seat as an example. Normally, if you do not do the research first, it is an exercise in frustration dealing with someone who has to put you on hold, or simply says 'I don't know' and then there is silence. |

Every tuesday i go for dinner with my son, my mum and my grandparents. Being in their 90s my grandparents live in what seems like a pretty small world. We always go to my local because my grandparents like the food there and to be fair its always good. Its always quiet at 530 in the restaurant (thats a late dinner for my grandparents) and the staff always load up grandma and grandpa with freebies whether it be a side salad or whatever. Grandpa is old school so is the only person in history to wear a suit to a pub bistro, but its nice to get them out and they enjoy their time out. When my aunty was last in town the debate was on where to go for dinner. My grandparents had her sold on the place they like. Untill she found out it was the pub. She nearly died she is that snobby.

Made it past the 2nd interview and 1 more to go. If it turns out well, then time frames will come into the discussion as he needs to stand up a new building next to the current shop to house the dynos. We'll see. |

Treated myself to a factory calibrated 3.5 inch racing tyre pressure gauge. Came in a foam padded aluminium carry case for protection

Gave a glowing reference for a friend's son. Felt real good when she asked "so how long have you known him?" I replied "26 years" - in a stunned tone she says "but he's only 26?"
I then had to explain I've known him since birth, and have been friends with his parents even longer..... Hopefully he gets the job. |

Work was honestly not fun tonight but a late-night Valentines Day dessert date made up for it.

Watching peak hour drivers unite for "victory"
Doesn't normally happen as good as this, but today I witnessed about 6 cars in the left lane all work together. A green P-plate clown in a Veloster shot down the shoulder to try and get ahead in the traffic (I've seen him do this several times - goes down the shoulder, past 30-40 cars, and pulls into the short little bus lane at the lights, then takes off when the lights go green). Today he tried it again, and came to a grinding halt when he realised a cop car with someone pulled over was blocking the shoulder. He was about 10 cars back from it. Puts his blinker on & tries to push his way back into the left lane, but everyone kept tailing tight to the car in front, and held him out long enough for the cop to spot him, and motion for him to pull over. Well done guys. |

Potentially got my unemployed mate a job at the same company I work for. I made a call for him - it's all up to him now.

Similar shoulder-dash at 3:30, although the traffic was still crawling.
Good to see another lonely right lane knob on the M7 getting done too. And I can't believe the patience that motorbike cop had waiting for the HWP car for backup to eventually get the daydreaming idiot to pull over after what seemed like 15km. I'm actually amazed I can do over 40,000km a year and thankfully only come across a couple a day.... |

Reading the XAGT mothball story made me feel good today. Nice to see another bit of Australian salvaged. In a world full of disposable $&ite , it’s nice to see a bit of nostalgia and passion rekindled.
