LOL that is crap , looks like a BMW DASH from the 1970's . the XF FUTURA dash instrement cluster was better than that . LOL . The screen on the FG MKII looks nice but i think the MKI screen looks better . funny thing i think of with the big MKII touch screen , can someone photo shop a 32 inch plasma on the dash there , as the next model 2015 falcon , with 28 inch rims and LED rear tail lights please . |

Oil life monitor? The ones in trucks & some german cars work out the level of 'work' the car has done, and works out the service intervals from there... A set of circumstances that is ABC(hours, average speed, engine load, temperature, kms) might mean a 20,000km oil drain interval, a set of circumstances that is XYZ might mean a 40,50,60k km oil drain interval.

Absolutely bloody brilliant, finally an ad that creates discussion, and is screened with a sense of humor and has a fun factor.

1) V6 diesel Territory, 2) EcoLPI Falcon sedan and Ute 3) Ecoboost I-4 Falcon sedan All your eggs in one basket? Not hardly, that's about as diverse range as you could get with three new engines in three vehicle segments, four if you consider the EB I-4 Falcon a large mid sizer... |

Went for a drive from Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour last weekend (few hundred k's) or so up the Highway, 3/4 tank of fuel (95) luggage, 2 people & sitting on 100-110, passed a few trucks along the way & average economy
7.1L/100k's, best we have seen so far as best we have managed before on HWY driving was around 7.5 so not sure the EcoLpi would save as much as people say when I look at this example not to mention if LPG goes up in price & nudges closer to the price of Petrol etc I think dropping the diesel in the Falcon would have been a better move myself. |

Only a worthless article on the Ford V8 which says that the XR8 will stay in the showrooms into the foreseeable future!!! Boy they are out of touch. But they do have a double page spread on a new Astra. |

American cars are nowhere near that technical yet, and it's still based on miles travelled. Just have a look at that Chevy Impala dash in their latest advanced (sic) model and their information centre which consists of Dick Smith having an orgy with a fellow named Radio Shack. I hear constantly that we're living 1984 (in reference to the book), that Impala video reminds me of 1984. Big hair, Kelly Le Brock, ankle warmers, and that Impala dash board. Yep, it's 1984 time.

"The GM Oil Life Monitor System is not a mileage counter. It is actually a computer based software algorithm that determines when to change oil based on engine operating conditions. There is no actual oil condition sensor. Rather, the computer continuously monitors engine-operating conditions to determine when to change oil. Over the years, millions of test miles have been accumulated to calibrate the system for a variety of vehicles. The system was first introduced in 1988 and is now on more than 10million GM vehicles" http://assets.cobaltnitra.com/teams/...145efa6b30.pdf |

Fair enough, point I was trying to make was it wasn't as advanced as the expensive Germans. On the Lincoln Navigator, it keeps going off every 5000 miles so ford must use a different system.
