well i can confirm this is do able and that if you want an upgrade then its well worth it, heaps more feel and power.

You do need to space the rears by 2-3mm, but other than that VA setup bolts straight on. I just used normal XT setup (298mm rotors IIRC) with BA pads, calipers.

As for price, I think parts came to roughly $500ish. I paid $50 for the pair of fronts and then $100 for the rears, wasn't a happy camper about that but didn't really have an option.

Anyway, all I can say is do it!

thanks Polyal, i`d love to do the bf xr8 calipers, but........i like the idea of being able to put 16`s back on if i need to, i`m gonna do it , bit like a an old woman i am , i can`t make up my mind .

FTG had a FG XR8 brake package for sale for $400 a month or so ago, I was to slow but should have snapped that up.

Although I like having my rotors and pads new to start with.

i know this has been done before, but today after much humming and harring, i have aquired a full set of bf xr8 brakes for my s2 xr6, i think i got a bargain, i rang the guy on ebay about them he does a bit of everything including buying and selling cars and wrecking the the odd one or 2, anyway the brakes came off a stolen and reclaimed damaged xr8 , car had done very low k`s after ,and inspecting wear on the rotors i would say it was not even enough to run it in, big ventilated disc`s all round for my baby ,
I had already bought 2 new front disc`s (Xr8/t rda 322 mm) because i got them for a decent price (i may sell them cheap to get some braided lines ) and i was only going to do the fronts for now but the full set was just too good too pass up, when the weather fines up i`ll take some photo`s of my s2 xr6 calipers and bf xr8 /t for comparison :

i thought it prudent to put some seals in even though the calipers are low miles, remember how you would get the pooze with lady spending all that money on avon..........., i found a great use for one , the second piston was stubborn to come out,easy way is to pressurize the caliper , those perfectly conical avon jars do the job maaaagnificently

I'm doing up the brakes on my SER1 XR8 and have got a 330mm kit for the front and have the BF 328mm for the rear.
Does anyone know if you can get the 3mm spacer required to fit the rears correctly.
Just thought someone might have made some up and sell to anyone who needs them.

Yay the mission gets worse. . . tried wrecker is saying that BF XR6T and XR8 don't all come with 322mm disc. What a knob, unless the cars are different in NZ

I am wanting to upgrade the brakes on my AUII XR8 ute.
After reading through this thread it states that the BF sedan and ute brakes are different?
What is my best option for upgrading (other than going Brembo;s :p)?
I am wanting to upgrade front and rears, is it a straight bolt up and will I need to change my brake master cylinder?

Wrecker is correct, ford went back to the non ventilated rear on the second series of BF or maybe earlier to save some coin!

guys why cant you use the series2 uprights (stub axle) on the series1 equipment control arms, sways bars, etc..

i am referring to the AU series , mainly because i believe the series 1 sway bar links are a better design with the rod and bushes (stronger and stiffer) and off less flex unlike the ball joint type AU2-3... and you can get a 30mm sway bar in the series 1.

would it have anything to do with the angles or anything like that? or the way the caliper mounts up? i might be mistaken but didnt the t-series1 have a premium 2 pot brake or is it a different set up all together

sorry im a noob to this suspension swapping

That should be fine. It's either 303mm solid or 328mm vented for the rears. The 322mm is for the front.

328mm rears came out with BF1 and dissappeared somewhere around BF2.

They are found on all FPV rears with single piston rear calipers, they are just painted red from factory.

I have fitted FG Front 322mm and Rear 328mm to my AUIII XR6. On the rear I changed the back plate and used BA Wagon/Ute ones. I don't like the idea of using spacers or grinding parts to fit, using the BA back plates made it a bolt on only job.
I did change the front and rear brake hoses, used BA standards on the front and BA Sedan ones on the rear, came out ok.

looks great and bet it brakes really good
did u need.brackets to mount the front brakes like the tickford brakes need brackets

No brackets needed, they bolt on to AU2 and above.

BF 322mm on my AU1 Fairlane (Changed everything - Upper Arms are BF Items, Lower Arms are AU2, Stub Axles and Swaybar are BF)

im going.tickford 329mm brakes on.the front of my au2

for the rears do i go territory rears 328mm or
bf xr8 rears 328mm i believe there both the same or
fg xr8 328mm rears which i believe is the same again

i know i must use bf sedan hoses for the rear and bf backing plates

can anyone confirm please.cheers

You can be a butcher and use washers to space the caliper outriggers to the existing plate but I went the route of getting BA Wagon/Ute back plates, which are already set for the larger calipers. The 328mm brakes are BF/FG/Territory, you were correct.

You will need to drill holes to fit the BA/BF hoses to the rear but it is easy to do and you will need to be creative with the steel brake lines as they need to be bent a little on the left side.

If it is not a rude question, why are you going the route of the T series fronts? would not the BA/BF/FG/Territory 322mm be ok? they are cheaper buying pads too.

he means bf xr8 322mm calipers or fg 322mm calipers and rotors bolt straight onto the front of our aus nothing else to be changed.

Is the use of the BA bracket for live axles only or can it be used on the IRS setup as well.

A bloke I know used what he had there on his IRS Fairmont Ghia AUI. I know that the caliper has to be spaced out a little because of the vented rears.

No, the calipers on BA/BF bolt to the front of the stub axles and if you use FG or Territory calipers you will have to change the left side to the right side and vice versa. In the long run it will be cheaper because the Disc Pads are the same for the 322 discs as the standard BA/BF/FG/Territory
The only thing I would suggest is to buy 2 new front brake hoses from a standard BA sedan.
AND, for heavens sake, get NEW copper washers for ALL round, you will need 8.
They are available from your Ford Dealer part number EA 2149 A.

PS; You need 8 if you are doing the front AND rear calipers.
