Hi, and thank you for allowing me to join this forum, My name is Paul and I bought in December a new XLT ford ranger.
I had tested every 4x4 dual cab available and found the Ranger the best to drive. I bought the Ranger to tow our 25' Jayco Silverline and as I am retired we will be doing a lot of driving. I am looking forward to future discussions and learning more from this forum. |

Hi there,
Just joined up. I currently own a 2009 Territory. Not exactly a classic. I did rebuild an XD 351 Fairmont 4 speed once though. It went like the clappers. I do miss the old girl sometimes. Joining up as the old Territory is starting to age and there is the odd thing going wrong and I am hoping to get some advice. This week, it is the wipers. Hello and thanks for accepting me on this forum. I have been a Ford fan for many decades starting with an XC Falcon and currently driving a 2012 Territory (Petrol) 90k so far and a good percentage of that towing caravans. Prior to this I had a BA Fairmont 5.4V8. Went the clappers but drank the juice just as fast.

Hi all, I've got a story to tell about my "new" '77 ZH Fairlane. I know it's a long post but I've been told it's worth the telling.
My Grandfather was a Fairlane man, big framed farmer and Estate Agent for Dalgety's, servicing Eastern Victoria from Dandenong to Mildura. He liked the comfort of the Fairlane on the big drives, the V8 and big boot that he could toss in some hay bales to feed the small beef herd he kept on the side. In 1978 it was time to upgrade to the ZH and as a 12 year old I accompanied him to Berwick Ford, Victoria. I'll never forget feeling important standing silently next to him as the dealer handed over the keys. I sat in the back on the way home thinking life couldn't get any better, what a car! I never lost the love for that Fairlane, it had a lot to do with a very special Grandpa/Grandson bond. As the years went by I learnt to drive in it and always envisaged it being mine one day. When my Pa died in 2002 at the age of 83 he was still driving the ZH, it was a little worse for wear but always garaged and only had about 220,000kms on the clock. My Grandmother, a smallish woman, continued to drive it for awhile but at the mature age of 85 decided the Fairlane was getting a bit hard to park in those ever shrinking car parks and she needed the cash. I desperately wanted to buy it but I was building a home, going through a business breakup and just couldn't afford it. Watching it drive away after my Dad and I sold it was gut wrenching. Fast forward a few years, I got caught in the middle of Black Saturday 2009 thought I was going to die defending our house, 2013 and I got cancer, went through hell, nearly died and all that. Those things tend to change your view on life....it's too short not to do what you want. So as I've always enjoyed fixing stuff and messing with cars and liked the idea of a "Sunday driver" "Classic Muscle Car" to have as a project, I started looking around; Cameros, Firebirds, Corvettes but always keeping half an eye out for the Green '77 ZH. Anyway this year I got a bit serious and wrote to VicRoads to see if I could get the last known Rego (I remember the first three letters of the original but not the numbers) and the VIN number along with the last known owner. Of course VicRoads don't give out names and addresses under privacy laws.....but they did give me the rego and VIN which at the last date of rego was still the same. Unfortunately it expired a number of years ago. My brother who's a lawyer asked a mate, who may have access to such info if he could help, again unfortunately dead end. Oh well looks like it's going to be a Camero then. I gave up looking or hoping to ever see Grandpas Fairlane again assuming it had been scrapped for parts or written off. That was 5 months ago. Last Friday I went to stay with a best mate who shares a passion for old cars, hot rods etc. We were doing our usual thing looking at cars on the web, when he said let's look at some GT's so I punched in 70's Ford Falcons and just for the hell of it added Fairlanes....my heart skipped a beat when staring at me was the front of a Green ZH with the same three letters that I knew so well, but I couldn't remember the numbers...*#%€. Looking at the other photos I noticed two scratches that looked awfully like the ones my Pa made on the gate. But the inside was different, the wheels weren't the same the suspense was killing me because the VicRoads paperwork was three hours drive away. In the middle of the night lying in bed, 'cause I couldn't sleep, I remembered the email I sent to my brother with the details. Sure enough there were the matching numbers same as the ad!!!!! I rang the contact number on the ad next morning and asked a few vague questions not wanting to let on how potentially important this was. Lisa the owner was very helpful even telling me the car had a great history and was well cared for, she and her ex had the car for 10 years but we're only the second owners and she told me that when she picked it up the nephew of the old man who had owned it told her a story about picking it up as a 12 year old...OMG! I hope she doesn't remember me and hike the price up!! My mate drove me and my daughter three hours the next day to have a look, needless to say I was both excited and scared that I wouldn't get it or it would be too far gone. I couldn't believe seeing my Grandfathers car again, it only took a couple of goes to get it started and it ran fine after sitting for 3 years. My mate did some great negotiating and after settling on a price both Lisa and I were happy with I paid a deposit and got a receipt. It was then my mate said to Lisa "we've got something to to tell you" Lisa looked very worried but I assured her it was ok. I said "you know that story you told me about the nephew of the original owner?" "Yeeees" she said "Well it wasn't his nephew.......it was his Grandson, and that's me! You should have seen the jaws drop on Lisa and her two friends. Anyway there were a few tears shed and a couple of happy photos to mark the event. I'm picking my ZH up on Saturday and one of the best bits is my 17 yo daughter likes V8's too and is coming with me to pick it up. I'm looking forward to then taking it to show my Dad who doesn't know I've found it, and then I'm starting my project of restoring 38 years of memories. G'Day
My name is Allan, also known as Pep. Been a Ford guy most of my life, but admit to owning other makes in my 50 years of driving. Presently own a 37 Ford hotrod that I built ( 7 years in the process ). Originally Chev powered but I changed it to a 351c. Been on the road now for 8 plus years.Great and reliable. My street hacks contain a 2016 Focus after trading in my 2011 Focus ( had enough of the gearbox problem) .. Also have a 2005 Focus that I gave my son, which is still going strong. I will look at the site and add anything that I can and to see if others have similar issues or ideas on Ford cars and in general Focus. |

Hi guys, new member as from today.
I have a soft spot for the XY GT but love all makes of cars mainly love horsepower hence the reason for owning a few blown classics, just love building V8 blown motors. Nothing against the 4 and 6 cylinders, seen some of them put out some ballistic figures. |

Some of you may be interested to know that many years ago I bought an old XL sedan that I wanted to restore from scratch. It was actually older than I was. Sadly, I didn't get to finish the project.

Struan Ferguson, Auckland NZ. I have owned several Fords, both Australian and Japanese. I have found them cheap and dependable. I should have joined when I bought a 97 Laser, but I struggled by repairs and servicing with guesswork, intuition and large amounts of hand cleaner. Now I use Stoko. I was looking for an auto electrician the other day because I need one. I found a Ford agent first so I went in and said to the service manager "do you want to hear a joke?". He said "yes", so I said "I've got a BA Falcon". He laughed and so did the spare parts manager. My newly acquired 2005 BA Fairmont, in red at my wife's request as it is her car except when I need to tow something, always starts for me but never starts for her. Before I get it started though I sometimes have to turn the key a few dozen time. The response to the key turning varies. When luck is with me it starts first try. Sometimes it turns over but won't start, sometimes it won't turn over and sometime when it does start the speedo won't go. The Ford service manager said that they start by looking at the engine earth then the starter motor connections. I could see that the easy way out of my predicament was to hand over my wallet but I like a challenge and I'm going to have a go at solving the problem or problems myself. Having had a quick browse of Ford Forums I can see that my task is not going to be as simple as I though as the car has protection systems that I never knew existed. I grew up with maintenance intensive worn out English cars, Fords among them. Engines have improved immensely since then and although car electronics may have come further, it still has a long way to go to catch up to the reliability of the mechanical parts. I look forward to reading how others have solved similar problems and If I do find a new solution I will post it. |

Hi. Have just purchased a 1966 XP Falcon ute - one owner until 2015. It's in reasonable condition, and is rust free and straight. The story goes that when the owner took it home, his wife didn't like the Kurrajong Green colour and so he painted it grey with a brush. It has the 170 CI Pursuit motor and is a three on the tree. Still registered. Will post photos when it's back from the pink slip check. Hope to learn a lot on this site. Thanks.

hello people im cookster, i have a 2010 fg xr6 with a standard 4 litre 195kw motor. im looking to grab a bit more rwhp and am thinking of upgrading the cams and springs and having some work done to the head. any ideas on brand and type of cams and headwork and what sort of boost to rwhp i can expect from doing this

Hi There. Just completed a 7500klms to Darwin and back home. Rwd 2012 territory pulled 2000kg 20ft full height caravan. tow ball weight 180kg. Car has a hayman reece wdh. We also carried 60ltrs of diesel in the cargo area plus fridge.Terry has done 113000k. Performed excellent. It took us 4 days to get there.The car never had much of a rest and never missed a beat. It avg 14.2 ltrs per 100 towing at 95. We were so impressed with it. Before we retire we may up grade. What I want to put out there is, is the awd 2015/16 Territory models as good. We have heard of trans problems, bushes etc. Also any opinions of the Everest.

Yes I do own a TS-50, . and yes it is as good as they say it is I've been a Ford man since i bought a used XM sedan with bottle green duco, white roof, and a big 170 under the hood with a two speed auto , that was just a lovely car and I would love to still have it. My car list of long since gone Fords. xm sedan 170 2speed auto xp wagon 200 3 speed manual on the column bench seat Cortina sedan xw wagon 250 auto XW ute 302 auto F100 302 Auto XA sedan 302 4 speed mauual XC two door 302 auto long range update (square lights) TC Cortina 250 Auto ( what a rocket this thing was ) XD dealer s pack 250 4 speed manual bucket seats XE sedan 351 4 speed XF ute 4.1 4 speed manual F250 5.7 auto EA sedan 4.1 auto EB wagon 4.1 Auto EL wagon 4.1 auto AU XR8 sedan 5 speed manual AU 11 XR6 auto T3 TS-50 F250 BA XR6 Turbo BF XR8 sedan FG XT sedan There have been some real good ones in there but I can;t say there's really been a bad one , . .
