My daughter has been looking at Suzuki swifts to replace her Toyota echo, she found one on marketplace, we go have a look get talking, the guy says he is looking for an echo for his wife, to accompany his other echo which is dailied.
So in 1 day we’ve sold her car (something I was dreading) and bought another. Happy days.

First day back at work yesterday and was trying to prepare myself for the avalanche of **** piled up in my in inbox.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was mostly junk and deleted most of it. I've have in theory ticked off one of the last two coding commitments from last year first day back. But here was a big turd left that I expected to get at some point this year since the can has been kicked down road a long time and there is no road left. The timeframes and resources are even more ****ed then the last kick! I applied for a promotion last year but heard **** all before I went on leave but I got an email saying Update yesterday. So I was excited but basically said nothing but you will hear something soon To my surprise I got an email today saying I made the cut today so was happy with that Also finished both the book I was reading AND The Sopranos before going back |

He then offered me a position two levels lower than I'm at, but I'd keep my current rate until such time as the lower level catches up and then my pay would increase along with that level. Did the calcs afterward and that would mean I wouldn't get a pay rise for 4 years, and because I'm in a defined benefit suoerschene, it will cost me around $200k. Went through the company's policies on redeployment, redundancy and recruitment and told them they couldn't do what they were proposing. My boss is only new to the company and was only the deliverer of the news, and his boss is not back until the end of the month, so this will take a while to play out. Still, interesting times ahead. And happy new year to you, too, boss of my boss. Ps this is in the wrong thread. Should be in the "Gee, I hate that" thread

I'm in the pool and done my job, but still have to rely on pretty useless people to get anything done. I have already said I'm taking the first offer that comes a long time ago. I have worked my way up and not skipped anything over 13 years. No chance they cut me in any rational world but still possible. I hope it works out for you because the market was looking great, it's starting to not look so good now. |

The bank of dad offered her a $5k gift to get her up into a brand new MG3, but with her heart set in a swift declined the offer. Incidentally the 2016 model swift is a really nice car, I can see why they are popular, we missed out on a couple by not looking at them as soon as they are listed for sale.

Nice surprise while eating my Weet Bix. Her and her partner are mad fisho's.

Go faster parts arriving everyday for my new car
In opposite world... giving back the deposit on my merc because the people have changed their mind due to unforseen circumstances (very close friends of mine) and then the fuel pump decides to play silly buggers leaving me stranded twice in one day. Unobtainable anywhere but Mercedes Genuine of course Price for the NEW one and both senders ? $2200 Gonna be fun removing the originals too... |

Spent the morning with my engine builder measuring tolerances for the blueprint, I've learnt alot today. At the end of it he says to me with a dumb grin "You realize this things going to be a bit of a monster?" Haven't stopped smiling since...

Getting paid and making a good profit for a single days work.
Now just need to figure out how to turn that single day into 5 days a week...... * To clarify, just in the initial stages of getting out on my own and starting my own mechanical workshop (currently working my existing job for a wage so this just at most tops me up a little, till i can reign in more work and move too it full time). Feels great to not only work for your self, but when money in suddenly overtakes money out!

A good combination to start off and build from at least when starting from scratch

Only asking because if the answer is yes, invest in one of those not too expensive pod coffee machines. Reason being is that if a customer waits around for the 30 minutes/hour or so, the 40c or whatever the coffee costs you will make them feel really looked after, so encourage repeat business and word of mouth. Not so much with dudes, but think about it when it comes to women who like to gossip. Something as simple as a very average machine coffee that costs next to nothing can be something to talk about. |
