What about what appears to be XR6 written on the back (bottom right under tail light) with stickers.. or am I seeing things

No pic but I had the usual VE SS with bow ties in front of me the other day, with the added bonus of the insert on the rear bar and front painted the same dull gold as the badge. I nearly puked.
