Hmmmmm.... my son is doing a sub par job of being a teenager. By that i mean as a teenager regardless of what items he has, he is supposed to complain about them for no justified reason.
This evening i offered him a new phone. Not that there is anything wrong with his existing phone, just he has had it for a bit over 2 years and its a 4g. The one i put on the table is 5g. Nope, he didnt want a bar of it. Apart from him cracking a couple of the glass screen protectors (hence why i make sure he has them, cheap insurance) he has taken good care of his phone. His reasoning as to why he doesnt want an updated phone is because he has had his since brand new and all his school mates have handmedown phones. Great character trait the looking after it thing, but the whole got it brand new thing is just bragging. He knows the story behind his $36 phone, but doesn't let that be known. What really got up my goat was so yeah, the boy gave reason as to myself keeping the spare phone as a spare, but we were out for dinner with my mum. She chimed in saying if he doesnt want it she will take it. The offer was to my son, not her. Her phone is perfectly fine. I bought it for her maybe 18 months ago. So that was a big no. Main reason i offered an upgrade to my kid was the whole highschool thing, you know, everythings a competition, and 5 g's is more then 4. He also knows if say he cracks the actual screen, thats his problem. Im not going to give him a phone if his works but has a smashed screen. The upgrade is still on the table should he chose to take me up on that offer with his current phone still in good working condition. |

Chase (one's) tail, well I have had a good lesson of this in the last few days trying to get some results to my solar panel issues, support is bit slow off the mark for a remedy and putting me through hoops, Geez I hate that having to repeat myself so many times to their questions.

I managed to fix my laptop by going back to an earlier version after a lot of ****ing around for all of Saturday.
No reason why it seems other than mine is old and uses BIOS and new standard is UEFI but will save the next attempt for when I'm on holidays but definitely need a new computer Also keep getting stuck being last man standing at work with this old **** which I have enough skills to keep it going just but not everthing. They want to segregate duties as is good practice in IT but I'm the only one that builds, tests, and deploys so it's a joke and on top of that we don't do it regularly so it always is outdated. I logged a request for help back in July only to get a response today just to say 'eat ****, it's your problem now' I just wish for one person I can share the pain with. I help everyone but no one does/can help me |

News stories coming out about what is thought to have been a mass death of emperor penguin chicks last year in Antarctica. Whether you believe that humans are behind the current global warming issue or whether you believe it to be a natural process, there is no doubt our planet is warming and that it is having an impact on our biodiversity.

Welp, I only have myself to blame... I thought I'd be in here saying that my fancy new polished up vehicle had been sullied somehow. Instead, it appears that my many hours of scrubbing, polishing and nonsense sees me with tendonitis in the shoulder and a course of rather fierce anti-inflamitory tablets to quoff...
Can't win 'em all I guess... Or any for that matter. Cheers, Tony |

You weren't going to get very far with the traditional adjustable spanner.
I can't even recall ever seeing one of these before. |

That's just about any 'leader' in a large company, isn't it?

Maybe so, but you don't expect it from family.

The ones that do count recognise my service and contribution, believe me when my retirement day does come, some home truths will be told in front of all. Cheers and keep your head up. PS: I read your last comment, I told my family to **** off over 20 years ago, I can say I have nothing to do with them, it hurts but I'm better off. |

My apologies, DFB, I was just trying to make a light-hearted observation based on your post. Obviously I wasn't aware of the context of it.
Just remember the old saying, mate: you can choose your friends but you can't choose your family. Allow the family members who respect you for who you are to be your friends. Those who don't, or can't, can simply remain family. All the best, mate.

Make sure you have your outlets, DFB. It seems you know you have extra load atm, so make sure you have ways to relieve that stress. If the normal relievers aren't enough, find something else that helps. If talking to someone works for you, reach out and chat to them. Hope things improve for you soon.
