G'day. Just joined and enjoying the forum. Recently got out of an '09 Prado manual and into a brand new, out of the box ranger auto, mainly because I could see the Prado being pretty tough on clutches towing a two-tonne van. Super impressed with the Ranger as a tow vehicle. Thought I might need to beef up the back end a bit, but no problems at all. Tows like a dream. Downside ... my '04 XR Turbo ute (the model before traction control, so buckets of fun) had to go along with the Prado, as we were downsizing to a one car family. The turbo took the place of a '94 tonner ute and prior to those Fords there was an S-pack sedan and a lumbering great station wagon back in the day. Will be looking for some words of wisdom on light bar V LED spotties and upgrading the factory Ranger lights. They're not real flash in roo country.

Hi and welcome. I have a wildtrak ranger and the lights are rubbish. I love the rest of the car though. The light bars and LED spotties are basically the same. Its just how they are mounted that is the main difference. If you're doing lots of outback touring / driving then I'd recommend a combination of a light bar that will throw heaps of light but won't throw it too far and it will dissipate quickly on those open outback roads and also have a pair of either HID or Halogen spotties to reach out a bit further.

Hey Guys!!
I am actually from Fiji. I recently bought off my sister a 98 Ford Fairmont AU. It's a great ride. Love the the power the car has and how spacious it is inside. Now I didn't realize how advance the security system inside. I bought it as a project for me to fix it...I love this car. I'm looking for solution as to fixing this car as I have problems with it at the moment. No start problem. Don't wanna spend anymore money on the mechanic since he is not sure what's the problem. So looking forward to get a solution to my car problem. Cheers, Frank |

G'Day. My wife & I traded in our FG. XR6 on a Ford Everest Trend in April 2016. We have been proud Ford owners for over 50 years. Hopefully the Everest will be as reliable as all the Falcons.--- Nobbie

Hi Nobby, like yourself, I am a long time Ford fan, bought my first Ford in 1959 ( used Prefect panel van), I came back to Ford in 1981, XD Falcon. I've had six Falcons since (including a Fairmont ghia), currently in a G6E EcoBoost, my best Falcon yet. Your 50 years experience will be a big asset to the Forum, welcome - Ozziebrian

Greetings from Perth. Originally from Canada , I have owned many fords. First car was a Cortina followed with a Pinto wagon my dad gave to me when I was 17. Better fords followed as I grew older. Fairlanes, mustangs, cougars, meteor, galaxy!s broncos to name a few. I'm currently working on a 68 XT Ute. Beautiful car. Cheers Al

Howdy.
I remember my first Ford experience as a younging 6-10 year old fondly riding piggie in the middle sitting on the front center console of my dads first XF Sedan that he bought after his truck accident with the insurance money from that. I remember those bright green climate control knobs that glowed after the lights were turned off, I thought the fact that they glowed in the dark was the best thing since sliced bread which was something else I had experienced for the first time just the summer before along with Ice Cream and spankings, yes the XFs climate control knobs and controls used to glow in the dark! if anyone can remember that then they are showing their age. To put it in terms we can understand this would have been about 1989-1990. I am sadly getting rid of the last of the XFs, a wagon. That my dad owned before he died in Oct 2016. It just has too much rust in her. Firewall is badly rusted out now too. I am moving onto bigger and better things however with a newly bought AU Series II Wagon with 227,000km on the clock and no issues except for paintwork. Post here: https://fordforums.com.au/showthread...62#post5948362 I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing to her just yet but I do know that one of the first things I'll be doing is paying off this damn credit card then working on the paintwork and then going from there. Howdy Folks,
Yes old school and popular is the way to go, along with inconspicuous. Got myself a decent Dec 2001 AU2 XR8 Tickford 200Kw manual silver ute, in good shape, no rust, no prangs and the clear coat is still good. It's got factory style dual fuel LPG and I am upgrading to a larger LPG tank under the back window. Been reading lots on the good Ford Forums and elsewhere, getting to know as many details I can, on my lil beauty of a utey. I am quite happy with low key stock Tickford works, and just want to put on a dual exhaust 2.5 inch for the good note! Roo bar and maybe a light or two at the front and that's it for mods. Can anyone please tell me about the Tickford extractor set up? Will the Mantra 2.5 inch stainless bolt straight on please? I will be letting you all know with pics, raining heavily here today, just south of Tweed Heads. Thanks in advance for any tips and hints regarding nice exhaust. Merl in Lismore |

Hi All,
Thank you for allowing me to this forum. Great information on here. From South Africa and having major problems with spares on Territory and Falcons. Stealers are damn expensive if they have the spares and e-bay is very reluctant to send us spares. Thank you again |

Hi, I have driven fords most my driving life and the last three years owned a 1991 eb1 Ghia, 6 cyl but original 144 000kms. I bought it to resell but fell in love. I renewed all the suspension and it sits and drives like new, so much luxury for such little price

Bought my second Ford. A XR6 sprint and love the thing to pieces. Joined the forum to find other ford lovers and to find out more about our XR6 sprint. Know it was built on the 5th October 2016 but that it. Looking forward to digging around the forums to find out more and hopefully ford members that share their love of the sprint Catch all |

G/Day! Ford Lovers,
Thanks for the welcome message. I do hope you can all assist me with my new purchase. "Lucy" is a 1985 Ford 2110 4Cylinder Diesel (Shibaura motor) 4WD 45hp 12 Forward gears n 4 in reverse. with 13.6-28 tyres (fats) on the rear and 6.00-16 (slims) up front. My "Lucy" can cover cross country much better than my ZA Fairlane. I am hoping to find a few members with a similar vehicle to share tall tales, rebuilds n all that special stuff that keeps the heart pumping. |

Hello everyone on AFF,
Just joined up! I'm in (almost) Outback SA. I recently got 2 x red Cougars (Yr2000 with thrown con rod/busted case, Yr1999 with blown head - which still just runs!) Went to Adelaide to get a 2.5l motor out of a Mondeo for a replacement motor for one car (the 2000 model). The idea is to reuse the 2 stuffed motors - by putting the heads of the thrown rod motor onto the blown head motor (and put this motor into the 1999 model - & let the teenage lad drive this - or sell it to recoup some funds). Mechanical service parts for these are mighty hard to get - the head gasket set is probably a USA import at this stage. Wrecks for other spares are tough but not impossible to find!!!! Other Fords I have are:
My very first car was a 2 door Mk2 Escort 1600, guess I've got baby Blue blood from day one on the road..... So, that's me. The Cougars are little tough to work on so getting on AFF seemed like a great way to get help. Thanks everyone!!! |
