Golden Ale is okay, but I find the flavour very grainy/corny...a stronger version of Corona, though it is darker.

Both the Porter and the Amber Ale is good...

But neither compare with Cascade's Amber Ale, which unfortunately is no longer manufactured. See, the metrosexual ballsacks are popularising beer and Cascade made some crappy Green beer, and then some low-carb crap. Sick of it. Jerks.

For you all, Matilda Bay has recently released a coffee-infused dark ale.

My brother got himself a four pack, and said it was pretty damn good.

So I will get some myself...

Matilda Bay mostly produce crap, but I am hoping that the word from my brother (who is into beer more than I am - and I love beer) proves to be accurate.

Ahh ok...I don't consider Hoegaarden to be the pinnacle of wheat beers personally.
It's just the popular one...like Corona is the popular choice for Cervezas, VB for Aussie lagers, and Guinness for 'stout'.

Mind you, Hoegaarden is still great.

If you like wheat beers, my three faves are Grand Ridge (Australian brewery), Erdinger and Schofferhofer. ALso try Moo Brew's wheat beer. Unique...real banana tones. Was nice.

There is no substitute for quality though, AUII...
I don't buy $2 beers because they are clearly $2 beers.
Some beers I pay 4-6 dollars a bottle for, but I'd rather have one beer of quality then drink 6 crap ones and get wasted and then feel like a dog's breakfast the next morning...

But yeah...the Moo Brew's wheat is good...really more of a summer beer...

asahi is quite dry, its not too bad for a japanese beer, however i think kirin beer is far superior out of nippon.

Yeah Asahi is quite an easy drinking beer, well suited for having a session, so to speak.

I find it quite ricey, if there is such a term. If I had to have my fridge stocked with a beer just to drink , this would be it probably.

Those bottles with fancy labels are not worth the money, Damo.
They cost about 7 bucks a bottle and really, they are hardly great...

La Trappe is 4 bucks a bottle for the Dubbel. Far superior.

8-9 for a Leffe or Chimay. Way, way better.

How can this be called a beer its a strange mix somone said the barefoot radler (if thats right) is not a beer but chocolate and beer would be all wrong at least the radler is refreshing.
Next theyll say you could warm the chocy beer curl up and go ni nies.

Chocolate flavors have been added to beer for centuries. Stouts are common for this. Loads of flavour.

People have been adding citrus flavours to beer ever since they realised Coronas taste terrible and need lemon to mask the taste.

Yes but the flavours are often added via malt and hops....not direct use of a product with the given 'style' of flavour. There is such a thing as 'chocolate' and 'caramel' malts....they aren't derived from coco or sugar respectively but have got that name due to the flavours they produce. Both are made form malted barley. Of course the wheat beers use matled wheat etc.

As for ashahi....yeah its nice and clean but like most asian (esp japanese) beers its pretty flat. Dryness is one thing....lacking in flavour another. Personally i think a clean german lager/pilsener is the way to go if you want clean and refreshing.....not that i go after that much. Show me the hops damn it!!! (or in this weather, a nice dark malt/amber ale...)

I see your point, but I'm at the stage where I think that "life is too short to drink crap beer". I've not tried Barefoot Radler (even though I know what it is), however after a large-ish week away, I've got a new favourite beer to drink (whenever), is Matilda Bay's Fat Yak. After a week of that, a six pack of the Malt Runner (more on this later), plus some Coopers Pale Ale, Amstel (Clear Bottle), and Stella Artois, the Fat Yak is a clear leader (for volume consumed alone).

Firstly, the Malt Runner. Very different to the previous Squire's 'session' beers. I wasn't having them straight out of the fridge, and this made all the difference. Having it warmer brings out the Chocolate, and keeps the Cherry subdued but present. It isn't the Cherry Ripe in a bottle that I made reference to before. The Cherry is subtle, and Chocolate well masked by the malt. Very nice, and I hope they have some on tap at the Brewery.

Amstel is bloody awful. Keep away. It is like a Dutch Corona, with all of the toilet water residue. I was sceptical about it coming in a clear bottle, and my fears were well founded. From a full carton, twenty bottles remain.
