i wonder if they will bother 'ferry flighting' them out of the RAAF base to storage, or will disassemble and scrap them right there.

No they won't. According to WGCDR Curr, yesterday was the last ever time they will move under their own power ever again.

Thats correct Dan. The only movements these jets will have over the coming months will be under the power of a tow motor

I was thinking the other day, had the RAAF cancelled their F-111 order and purchased the F-4E's from the US, would they have been kept in service for as long as the F-111 was?

Not sure which museum you are referring to.

The RAAFM already has 1 G model ready to go on display in its new 'strike hanger',
and I understand that one of the C models has been reserved for the Museum as well which makes
sense considering that its local historical value is much greater that that of the G.

At least one other is earmarked for future display at Amberly as well.

Other Museums probably wont be so fortunate, considering the $ 1 Million price tag quoted to de-mil each pig.

From what I understand two jets will be going to museums....one down south and the other on base at amberley. A8-132 which is the ARDU jet is being painted in original ARDU colours (camo on top as original with white underbody and ARDU markings) and will be sent to Adelaide. One jet will also be on display at the front of the base at Amberley.

These seem to fit into "The Aviation thread" ok.

I draw these for fun, in my spare time when I'm not making chops of FG coupes.

Got a lot more if you guys wanna see 'em.

I also draw armoured vehicles, but I guess I'll have to wait for 'The Armoured vehicle' thread...lol

looks great rocket! not a commonly referred to craft the old A36. Good to see you have one of the earlier models with the 'non bubble' canopy as well. Rear vis is certainly lacking compared to the bubble version....

Thanks, I'll post some more up tonight.

FWIW These are actually Packard Merlin powered B/C models.

The A-36 Apache was the first ancestor of what was to became the 'Mustang'.

I always thought the A-36 was only equipped with the Allison engine?

Yeah... The A-36 is, The P-51 B/C as shown above is Merlin Powered. They're the same but different.

Here's a few more. These ar P-51D's

These images are quite old now, I've reworked it since I finished these.

Here's how the Mustang looks after a re-work. I haven't got around to adding a paint scheme to it yet.

With this one I can illustrate it as any version of the D-K model Mustangs.
More later...

Jeez, it's amazing how much trivia you can forget in 10 years.
I used to build P-51 scale models and had several reference books and magazines which are now in storage. I'm gonna have to dig them out now.
Thanks heaps for jogging my memory with your amazing artwork.

Well, the drought has ended. I've scored work with a private company in Darwin, flying an IFR Lance out of darwin into remote and rural strips all over the NT, WA, SA, and QLD!!!!!!!!!

I start as of monday!!!!!!!!

So stoked

No they are not of any interest to me. The only international carriers I collect are ones who use or used MD-11's. I am not sure what it is I love about them, but I just love them.

I've never been on a DC-10 or MD11 but have always wanted to fly in one. It's a shame they were troubled early in their cycle as they could have been a good alternative to the 747.
