That people with high clearance 4x4’s have to slow to an absolute crawl when they mount the crossover when they pull into their driveway. Seriously you have two feet of clearance and massive tyres but you have to pull in like you have the ground clearance of an F1.

I reckon the A/C comes down to 3 things:
1. Fuel efficency - a lower load on the engine from the compressor reduces consumption (and manufacturers are forever chasing gains). Ford played around with strategies in the FG, and there was a major update in 2010 or 2011 with some very different parts (compressor, gas charge etc). 2. Cost - it's cheaper to run a system on 0.6kg of gas compared to 1 or 1.5kg like cars from the 70s & 80s needed. Also, a smaller HVAC system takes up less interior space, and costs less in materials..... and they were forever chasing the cheapest components of acceptable quality. 3. Quality tolerances/variances - there's no point trying to get the evap core to 0.1°C before releasing the A/C clutch, as the sensor may not be accurate enough, and the core will freeze over. So to cover all bases, and keep a safe margin for tolerances, they don't go as cold before cutting out - just like engine tunes are always "safe" and cater to the worst-case scenarios. The A/C in my FG is pretty good. Sure it's not as good as the VE, and takes much longer to get to a comfortable level on a hot day after parking in the sun (I have compared them back to back too), but once it's cooled the cabin down it runs quite well. However, you do need the fan on much harder than other cars, as the air coming out is not as chilled. 2 things assist cooling - the temp of the air, and the speed, and finding the right balance is often difficult for designers/engineers, as everyone likes a different temp. In the FG you need the additional speed of the fan to make up for the lack of chill compared to other cars. I've been in other FGs where the aircon is woeful, yet they check out OK. An early FG I had for a while nearly put me off getting my one in 2011, as it felt like the system was down on gas, and cutting out too early - yet it was normal. Utes, with the same system, but half the cabin space to cool, aren't much better (unlike the Commodore utes that go real cold, real quick). It's not like technology isn't there - my VL Brock will blow humidity mist out the vents, and collect condensation around them. When I was younger, my Dad's near new VK would freeze your toes off, and the XF my mate's family had was super cold too. But you knew when the A/C was on from the power drain (particularly on the carby 6s). And when other manufacturers can achieve good results from Futuris / AI-Thermal systems (formerly Air International), it rules them out as the issue, as their systems in other local cars run very well. |

The aircon in my FGX is way better than the two Subaru's and the Toyota mini bus that I have to drive.

If you have ever been to china (i have i 2001) speaking the loudest is sort of a competition and so is trying to push in in lines. That may not be the true reason but its my observation of a different culture being the foreigner.

Why is it that everytime Im on a single lane road, I get stuck behind someone that is happy driving at 10-20 kph under the limit, the ego that these people must have to decide that because they don’t want to drive at the limit, no one else on that road at that time can...
It seems strange to me that those same people will be doing 70 in an 80 zone but when the limit drops to 60 they continue doing 70 |

Hey, why didn't you overtake me, or did I speed up when you had the only opportunity to do so.

Why is it that our postie keeps giving us our neighbours mail, our number is on the letterbox and so is hers, he also gives us mail that has the same number but completely different street address. Does Australia Post employ people that can’t read these days?

Why is it we nowdays pronounce the name IRAQ like the Americans? It used to be pronounced as in EE-RAAK, not EYE-RACK.
