Ford are not that switched on. They're yet to even figure out if they will be associated with FPR next season.

Also a new model can no longer be introduced mid-season, the FX V8Supercar will have to wait for the new year.

This afternoon I saw my local dealer (NW Sydney) about the specs/interior/colour/pricing of the upcomimg XR8 (oh and I had a good look over the white Pursuit they have there as well and was surprised it didn't have the Brembos etc). They know as much as anyone here which is basically nothing yet. He did mention that he has around a dozen refundable deposits on Mustangs but I am the first to drop a deposit on an XR8 at this dealer. I get to option it when they have the word from Ford to accept orders - hopefully soon!

Ford are most definately playing this one close to their chests.

One Melbourne reckons they have more than 90 deposits for v8 mustangs. Not so sure that figure is genuine though.
The guy that heard that put a deposit on one at another dealer who only had a few deposits.
I wouldn't be expecting any discounts on mustangs for quite some time.

Why need marketing when you mainly sell to fleets and government. Hertz and Avis has already ordered 5000 FH XR6's over the 2 years that's half the build already accounted for!!

The rest will go to employees as lease cars plus a few XR8's for the enthusiasts...

If rental companies have already ordered 5,000 and I know heaps of XR8 and XR6 Turbo potential buyers then no doubt will this car sell!

Thinking about getting the new XR6 Turbo, hope it gets some power gains...

I look at having Falcon's as rental cars as bit of an advertisement. People see them driving, notice them and those renting them so far love the cars, they keep saying they wish they owned an XR6 this and that. etc.

No, it doesn't- just like all the taxi services across the country using them as taxis has not done a good job of advertising. Ask people who can afford to why they DON'T want to buy a Falcon and I guarantee they'll mention 'taxi' somewhere in there.

When people drop 35+ grand on a new car, they want to feel a bit special about it, not like they're on par with every taxi and rental car company in the country, buying 'just another Falcon'.

That's taxi, I'm more talking about rental, I know a few people who have bought Falcon's because they rented one and loved it.

Taxi's are usually warn out, smell and falling apart, rentals are usually ditched before they start to show wear and tare.

Just like the VF, I dont think Ford will provide taxi companies the new Falcon as it seems they will cater to more enthusiasts (XR8) or government/fleet companies or police (EcoLPI, Ecoboost)

Dual hockeys 100% confirmed!

Here's some more screenshots for those who can't view the video for whatever reasons:

The DRLs lit up look awesome!

The GT rims/Brembos look killer on this as well.

Madmelon is spot on.
Perception whether it is warranted or not will make or break you in the market place.
Good marketing, higher price points and such of the Euro’s give the perception they are above other brands and that in turn makes them more desirable to the general shopper or at least something to aspire to.
Taxis and rentals do the opposite and when consumers see a brand on the road displaying Taxi or Rental monikers consumers turn away so as not to be associated.
Fleet and bulk sales have good and bad points for manufacturers and in recent years good sales of the local brands to fleet has impacted on their desirability to a general public that is now saturated with alternative choice.
I’m not rubbishing the XR6 but when the new model arrives it is the upper spec and performance models that will have the most desirability as never to be repeated models, the run of the mill and entry level cars will require tight pricing to compete as they will suffer the who wants a car that won’t exist soon syndrome.
