I've fixed bikes that have burnt holes in pistons, dropped valves and I even had the pleasure of owning a bike which dropped a little end bearing and spitting a pin out, get stuck against the bore and piston and take out the powervalve and crack the bore too (2stroke).

Multi coloured panels (typical to bogan spec commos)
Stockies on the back (ditto)
Even the guy kinda matches spec...
I suspect they were broken down too.

Maybe I am getting old, lol.

To me though it just look's like a typical young fella that may have or (may not have) run out of money or time and need to replace a damaged panel but hasn't as of yet.

As for the stockies on the rear well that's just a tell tale sign of burnout's isn't it, or they like people to think that they have been doing them as most love to drive around with different rim's (stockies) on the back for no other reason then to give the illusion of mischeif.

Anyway it does look like a standard (bogan) Commo for these day's anyway. lol.

Some of the so called fails in this thread are a little subjective, i mean **** me, id hate to see my car end up on a holden fail thread just because i couldnt afford to get my front bar painted cause of more pressing matters like eating or keeping mortgage payments on track. Ease up on the judgementals and clear in the process of repair guys.

I personally dont mind that purple and Orange commodore. The paint looks in really good condition and, if that is a cooler, it probably goes well to boot.

Who are you to judge? Im making a general statement, not pointed at anyone more in particular than the last, however, yes, in this case i mean the orange commodore. I guess, having some life experience, and working in the welfare system you come across people who have experienced hardship for a variety of reasons. I have worked with a fella for example who worked in the mines, and through a variety of factors out of his control, lost his job. He could not afford, until regaining employment, to fix the odd coloured tailgate on his FPV ute for months and months and months.

When i lived at home, i could spend all my money on my car. Now I own a home, it will take me a couple of months and months and months to repair my front bar. There are clear fails and there are instances of misfortune. Maybe when your old enough to have your first beer you'll understand.

Maybe the guy with the orange commodore doesnt care cause all his money is going into his self funded race car?

Agreed. I had to drive around with a dented door for a couple of weeks before it was repaired. All I could think about was "I hope this doesn't end up on the Fails thread!"

Thought I'd post up a goodie.. I was so much in awe of "failness" here, it was worth a post. (Sorry about the photo, camera clicked a bit early)

Details :
  • Nissan Wheel and Front Suspension- Skyline??
  • Nissan Wheel completely wedged under the Armco @ Wellington Road-On Ramp to the Monash Fwy (The big doughnut turn)
  • Guessing the young bloke decided to "drift" it and be a hero.
  • Must of been doing close to 100kph
  • He ended up in the Armco Side on, slightly front end in first, but wheel was on opposite lock
  • Wheel hit the Armco, which grabbed the tyre and ripped it from the chassis spewing out the suspension. (Think of what happened to Dicky Johnson in the Green Falcon at Bathurst / Forest Elbow)
  • Result - one written off Nissan. (I never saw the result, other than this)

Our burgundy EF still has a silver front bumper after cleaning up a kangaroo. People would have seen it at the WSID wednesday night drags in april. Still hasnt been painted yet because at the moment I am building my XE on a pretty tight deadline and spending most of my money on it.

I am another person who hopes not to see our car in the fail thread lol.

wtf is it with all the people saying 'hmm that actaully doesnt look too bad' that purple and orange commo looks terrible, nothing subjective about it, that orange commo is bogan spec, hes got stockies on the rear and different coloured panels, if he cant afford to get them resprayed well that is the reason its a fail, it doesnt make it a non-fail.

This...
Not everyone has Cash money to get everything fixed asp... my guess is he has done a repair himself, excess can be well over $1000 for kids these days.

Same with people laughing at, say, a Xt with XR/FPV parts. Not eveyone can afford a FPV/XR and insurance, nor do they have a need for a perfomance car...i see no problem in tarted up base models.

Been done for years, XY falcon 500 owners slapping on GT parts.

What i do have a problem with is, People looking down their noses at the people doing these things, wow, you have a good paying job and can afford the latest XR or FPV, thats cool, good luck to you. You should be happy that P-Platers are trashing look-a-likes rather then the real thing.
