With my experience dealing with Rio, BHP, Barrick etc. and most of the bigger players, it is company policy at most places to run the course of the add before short listing begins. Besides the auto reply to say that they have recieved your application, I have also found that most times they will send you an email if you fail, or if you are successful.
Good luck.

Croozy as, auto, drive them full revs and lock in certain gears to hold you at any required speed limit, gotta be alert though cos apart from the shovels that load us we are the biggest bit of gear on site and can flatten everything else, even d10 dozers aren't safe

How did you get into that role, did you already have a job in the mines and transferred into the big trucks?

Are there other roles like this in the mines, some sort of transport about the place?

I started in the store at the mine I'm at then have been moved to doing escort work for the mine amongst other things.. We have restrictions on us that anything over 8T needs a permit & if not a regular needs to be escorted.. Love my job!

For those looking at working in the hospitality industry, Compass Group are looking for staff to work on one of the camps on Curtis Island near Gladstone.

Hope this link works.

I'm a fitter but would take an (air conditioned and radio equipped) operators position any day of the week over working on dirty machines in the heat.
I imagine it would get a bit boring cutting laps all the time though.

I worked (servicing) on several different mines in central QLD and they are all really hot or really cold, over the next few years I would be looking at the Alpha area if you are looking for work, big mines going in there.

oooh the really big toys, the biggest I went on was the marion drag lines, spent most of my time on Curragh blackwater and they didn't have the big bucket wheel loaders back then, don't know about now but I doubt it. I don't like the heat and probably never will (gone soft) but still supply fire systems for Hastings, Komatsu etc, nice new trucks only up to 793F's or 930E's size and I can go home to the family very night. What site is that? Looks too established to be Olympic Dam if you are in SA

I was there on and off until about 2005 and the safety man was Steve Ward but he left a couple of years ago as a consultant. Can't remember the name of the guy that took over.
Pat Burgess rings a bell though.

So today marks the 3 month mark since i got told i was through to the reference stage of getting my job, and i still dont have a start date or contract but been told about 1 month ago i have the job and just waiting for the paperwork on their side.
Done the references, interviews, medical, trip underground. Getting sick of waiting and feel sorry for the other 10 guys getting put on as well as some have relocated, given notice to employers and made big changes in their lives to get a start only to find its a draaaaawwwwwwwwnnnnnnnn out process.

Luckily im working as labour hire on the site already in a different position and my boss is helping me out by letting me work right up until i start new job(wayyy past my original contract length), but the closer it gets to christmas the more its making me think the start date will be January...... sigh

That looks like a nasty one, I remember those bloody belly dumps too, the blue cylinders in behind the cab are the ones I used to service (fire systems).
Did you see the video of the crane dropping the drag line boom at curragh? That one is a pearla.

The worst I saw when I was there was a dozer backed over a patrol.... not much patrol left
