We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about. “Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”. |

I wonder what is behind the grey blanked out square near the wheel chock? Its not there in the first pic. Is that a beer bottle rolling away to the left? Maybe the boys were having a little mid-day liquid lunch perhaps

I've seen a few pics of models in this thread. Here is a pic of the cockpit on a model I'm working on at the moment. It's a Kawanishi N1K1 Kyofu WW2 aircraft in 1/48 scale.

After much trial and error, here are a few pics, of many, I took of the last flight of the mighty F111. A sad day indeed.

I have a few big black and white photo's of varous aircraft taken by the RAAF in Malaysia. I got back in 1982 when I visited the photo studio on base. They gave me a dozen or so of these photo's, which I still have packed away. I might pull em out and take some pics of these. Too big to scan. I'm fairly sure they are A1 in size. |

Here are those pics. Excuse the quality, these black and whites are 30 years old so the quality of the photo's is starting to deteriorate.

Cheers The two Finnair actually have no centre gear. They are the first models I have ever had where you have to install the gear (mind you they were made in the 90's) and I could not fit the centre gear. I also have a China Eastern that the gear would not fit properly so I have it on it's stand. |

Nice collection of RAF tankers! The first shot must be a VC10 but does not look long enough and I cannot tell if it has 4 engines. The Tristar looks good in low vis as most of the ones I have pictures of are white! |

Love the Mirage shots Buckie.
I was talking to a bloke who was in the RAAF when the B52's came to visit and he was telling me how they had to widen the tarmac a few meters each side so the dolly wheels wouldn't drag in the dirt. Now it's time for my favourite ever picture in the history of things I like... I'd have liked to have seen a race between the #17 Jim Beam car with Steve at the wheel and a Pig before retirement!

Growing up on base gave me a lot of opportunity to collect memorabilia from various armed forces. Here's a part of what I collected in patches and stickers. I've kept all this stuff I guess because it's something you just don't get everyday. I've got a folder with a lot more photo's which I've kept over the years. |

Speaking of Tankers, used to live where they flew out of years ago. My favourite one was a 214 squadron one but no idea which particular one it was, wasn't either of these two as they are the K2 version. 214 had the older ones. Recently arrived in the house of motomk. Not good pictures with shadow and all that....straight back in the box afterwards in case I damaged them until I find something to put them in. 55 squadron from the Falklands era. 57 squadron from the Falklands era. Both together. If anyone has the latest ERSA, that has a good picture of the F111 on the front of it. |
