I just posted this elsewhere, but it deserves a spot here i reckon .. I don't care for the appearance of the current version with his sponsor PROCOMP but this version kicked proverbial everywhere it ran !!

hmmm, there is so much argument about what makes an epic fail but when it comes to wins??? great cars but surely they have to be at least a little looked after and not just some blokes car from when he was loaded in the 60's/70's??

Looks pretty bloody good to me! Its over 40 years old....What doesn't look well looked after? I see lots of BAs in worse condition.
What year is that one anyway? I've never seen a US one in my life, let alone in SA. The look on the blokes face says it all, he loves the car. Probably had it for a long time. Its a win. |

wouldnt say that, but if a rich bloke bought himself a gt these days then went broke and just washed it for 30 years would that be an epic win, or just a bloke that was proud of how much cash he had way back when.... dont get me wrong they are a great car, i just think that looks more like a older car that has been washed once a month rather than something that has had been really looked after for years on end or refurbed to look as perfect as it did in it's hay day....

it is almost 50 years old - it still looks to have all of the original trim . . . it is a win
it is not easy to keep a car so well for so long - this car is a better story than some cashed up guy who just recently bought it and spent $100,000 making it perfect again - it has personality |

Love the old "compact Fairlane"...seen quite a few around over the years, but none in that condition...most are either extremely tired and rusty and on thier last legs. It's good to see someone who cares enough about thier old car to keep it going as a daily driver, and realistic enough to know that it's just a car, designed to be used, not polished and looked at and maybe driven once in a blue moon.
I get the same nice feeling looking at that old Fairlane in the picture as when you see, say, a Porsche 911 splattered with bugs and with a bit of road grime on it after a long run on the open road...it's being used as intended, not as a museum piece. |

That compact fairlane is an epic win because of it's originality and it's age. How many old cars do you see that are still original.
