Perusing a community noticeboard at a local shopping centre last night I noticed a plain white business card pinned up, with the simple words "you matter" printed on it.

That made me smile.

Passed the Ps test for motorcycle today. All my group did. Felt really bad for one bloke in the group. Mid morning his wife texts him wanting to break up, that ruined him mentally and at one point he dropped his ktm. Just as the roll fell, he was first up for the final riding test. The whole group were geeing him up. He passed and that was the first time he smilled all day. Funnily enough, in the group there was a big kiwi bloke. The only time he had ever riden a motorcycle was to do the Ls course. He was the only one in the group who passed with zero deductions.

Went to the rms/rta/service, whatever its called, with the certificate of compitence from the provisional motorcycle course. Standard issue fill out the form and wait. So my number gets called, the lady was polite and does the tap away at the computer and that was it. I thought there may be another knowledge test or something, but no. So i asked her what is the process in the 12 to 18 months to go to an unrestricted licence? Best answer ever. No course, no test, just come back after the minimum 12 months and pay the fee.

Same. Although I watched qualifying and the top 10 shootout.

Pains me to say that and I almost feel guilty for not bothering to watch it from start to finish like I once did, but the way Ford have been treated this year is a disgrace to the sport and disrespectful to all that committed to the sport in general.

I used to live and breath this event. From my first memory of seeing the 1977 helicopter camera shots of the Falcon coupes numbered 1 and 2. Then from the start of the 1980s watching even second of the event every year (except 1985 and 1993). Even went to the mountain nine times to watch the race live. This event has taken more than 2 months of my life. But 2018 race was the last time I watched it. This was tribal for me. Falcon v Holden. But now that these tribes are dead I no longer care. Missing the 2019 Bathurst 1000 was difficult. But as I said it gets easier with each passing year.

Roll on the Bathurst 12 hour.

Same, would clear my schedule and devote the weekend to it. But I've lost interest, the category is a lost cause now and a complete farse.

Years and years watching one brand in particular fighting with one arm tied behind their back, race after race, year after year. When that brand finally got a level playing field, or even an advantage, out came the rule book and the GM side given a leg up. Why bother watching when the result is already a formality. Then when the disadvantaged brand has had enough and decides to take a break, they end up being called sour losers.

Remind me again who is the ONLY car company directly sponsoring the category? It's certainly not a GM brand, dead or alive.

And that says it all, when the result is a foregone conclusion, why waste a nice day sitting in front of the TV. So, if the biggest and best race of the year doesn't warrant attention, them what does that say about the series in general?

Instead, I had lunch with my sister and then enjoyed some rare time together washing her car.

Finding a tidy and reasonably cost-effective way to relocate a gas stove. I’d been expecting a day of hell but it was sorted in probably two hours of actual labour.

Of course when I was attempting to re-light the gas hot water it flared back at me and singed my facial hair. :-/

Made a small donation to the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund, who have launched an appeal to support those residents impacted by the current fire and flood emergency.

Donations can be made via the GERF website at www.gerf.org.au and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Every dollar donated to the appeal is distributed to those affected. GERF has been supporting Gippsland residents by natural disaster since 1978 and is run completely by volunteers.

I know of at least one house lost to the fires, plus a business that was just starting to rebuild itself which lost some of their cabins, communal buildings and various plant. From the floods, one veggie farm business has lost well in excess of $5 million in crop losses.

Beaut day yesterday for a local ride on Speedy.
Speedy is a 1947 Speedwell "Popular deluxe" I picked up from the Canberra bicycle museum years ago.
Back pedal brakes, single speed which floats on 28 in wheels.
He does have some modern touches like clipless pedals and Conti tyres.

Love the simplicity of him and makes people smile when they see him.
