The F6 could steal the limelight from any Ford Falcon performance
model but it apparently wont meet emisions in a couple of years.
Plus its safer for warrenty & driveline issues to stick with smaller turboed
270kw version! RIP F6 will probably be just as sought after as any GT

The 270kW from the F6 Typhoon, and the 270kW from the XR6T that followed. They were different engineering spec weren't they? I thought manifolds and turbos and all kinds of things were different.

My point being, even if parts for the F6 310kW are no longer being bought, what if the following XR6T has a different engineering spec - and it still makes 310kW?

yeah well it's possible, but it's a lot of coin to throw at a motor they're going to do one last short run of, but i'm hoping :P

it's hard to say at this point because those who know aren't allowed to explicitly state the situation. F6 motor is not going in XRT, no problem. But a reworked version of XR6T? who knows until Ford release spec.

RELEASE THE SPEC ALREADY.

I think the G6E Turbo will be very, very classy, especially how the XR series already look very upmarket (from what I've seen). Anyone going to consider the G6E Turbo? Or know of anyone else who would?

i'd love the G6ET

regarding the XR, i'm not sold on the massive upper grille, and the plastic looks cheap to me which would fade and be a bit of an eye-sore. Could be wrong though, yet to see it revealed properly.

Yeah, I know, we're all having fun speculating.

Keep in mind we know Ford spent coin on the XR8 to integrate a new Powertrain Control Module, because it was revealed that they 'brought forward some of the XR8 Program' for the GT-F - and that is perhaps how they managed to get the engine to 351kW without an intercooler. That is an example of 'spending a fair bit of coin for a short-run program'. Recall when the Miami was initially built that, despite the Quad CAMs and the DiVCT on the base Coyote, the PCM used in Australia at the time didn't have enough outputs so that they couldn't vary the CAM phasing.

We also know that a fair bit of coin is going to engine management R&D for emissions and consumption improvements.

Hope is not yet lost that some of that "new PCM" and "engine map R&D" coin might have been spent finessing the I6T maps.

I wonder if they would or could use the cats from the Miami on the turbo's which could allow for much easier power gains given they are higher flowing.

I think the main restriction on the XR6T getting a power jack would be emissions rather than reliability.

Here's hoping. If not, it'll be the first revision of the xrt motor that hasn't received a power boost for the next model since its inception.

Maybe the reason there was no last special edition F6 was because a remapped FH XR6T will put out more than 310kw

Consider, too, the very remote possibility that the new PCM has enough flash for Dual Maps. All you'd need is programming in the ICC to provide a 'touch screen' button, since commands to change from 'Economy' to 'Power' could easily be sent from the ICC down the CAN bus to the ECU.

Can't see it happening, but it's nice to dream.

Maybe the XR6T will keep it's power output and be SS money
While the XR8 will be Redline money

I think the XR6t should be kept as is but with a system like the Flex Fuel Commodores.
An XR6t that can run on E85 and make running changes based on ethanol content? Yes please!
Just as a side note, on my G6et on stock boost and E85, we were making 300rwkw....This could bring the spec of the XR6 up.

Just sold the BF2 XR6 tonight, already have a deposit at the local Ford dealer for the new XR8. Now I'm just waiting for the release.

Hurry the F@#* up Ford and take my money.

For those that remember him, just call me big Kev. (I'm excited.)

I agree that it would be nice for Ford to revise the power output of the XR6T and give it a few more herbs for the last model. Something like 285kw and 545Nm would be a nice lift.

But on the other hand as an owner I also think there is nothing wrong with the current power output for a stock car. The engine power and delivery is pretty bloody impressive.

Well no, those in the know have said there will be no F6 engine in XR6T. One of them being an engine builder who i trust. But who here can see an ECU remap? And our apologies to you for dreaming.

A ute, XT (I assume), XR8 and Territory all drove through Castlemaine today, all wrapped up.

The XR8 had huge quad tips and sounded tough, the territory looked like it sat higher at the rear and from what i could see in the ute the ICC looked identical to an FG.
