harley used them on the vrods .a pain in the butt when it staredt to leak, ended up putting a normal clamp on mine ,dosnt look as clean but dosnt leak either

Or is it just so we have to but a new hose clamp from them each time we change a hose and Ford's parts revenue is increased :-) But yes it prevents over-tightening.

No, its a normal clamp once you remove the sheared cap..

Not sure if this is correct or not, but I was once told to tighten a hose clamp until the clamp is virtually flush with the thickness of the hose. So the hose and tightened clamp will be same outside diameter.

I usually follow this rule and have done for years without issue.
