Our cat does the same thing, seeks warmth on the headers side of the car hehe, even tho he has a nice warm bed, you cant beat extractor heat!

was funny though wen we polished and waxed my car, and my cat jumped up, and slid straight off, lucky no scratches though.

this is him

they are only attracted to the warmth of the bonnet, so try hosing the bonnet and see if it says cool.

Couldnt agree more. If I saw anybody doing these sorts of things to an animal, I would do the same to them to see how they liked it.

I have tons of different cats walking all over my car. They love the heat after its been out for a drive. And never have I gotten the slightest scratch from one.

Im more concerned with the disrespectful ignorants that walk past it everyday.

Cut one side of their whiskers off, then they cant keep their balance :P
Smart cats, would be nice and warm on the bonnet. Pop the bonnet while the cats are on it. Might give em a scare Lol

Squirt the cats with water if they go on to the bonnet. They hate being wet and will soon learn the lesson.

I believe these are RUQ1KA's cats or at least one of them, ya?

If so, some of the comments above probably arent in the best taste...

Anyway...I keep my bonnet slick, polish the sucker up so they cant get grip, soon loose interest in sliding off it. Even if they scratch on the way off it doesnt run deep, quick polish and all over. And the odd yell and run at them gives the message...

Either that or stick some Friskies on the other halfs bonnet and make it their problem

five letters RSPCA thats what happened to my neighbours cat. I asked them to keep their cat away from my car it was coming into my garage that has no back door. they told me to off so next time it was there i caught it ( humanely so don't get upset) and a trip to the animal shelter. they got their cat back after forking over mega bucks for pound fees microchip and desexing and they now control their cat. hasn't been on my car for 6 months now

There is a cat deterent that does no leave any residue so to speak. So the paint should still look good. I will let youknow what it is as soon as I remember.
Had this problem once when I had an open garage. But I moved before I figured out if it realy worked or not.

I don't like the idea of hosing it off to cool down?? Sort of defeats the purpose of trying to keep your car clean eh. And the sun would warm it up pretty quick.

I think there are a few too many over sensative people on here ! I like most animals and hate seeing cruelty to them, but I still have a sense of humour ! I dont think anyone actually means what has been said so far , so lighten up just a bit . And before you go labeling me a monster , I have a cat of my own . As feral as they come but I have tamed him and he no longer hunts anything but them pesky mices from next doors chicken coup ! He doesnt eat them , just leaves em at my door step to show me his trophy !

Do the cats prefer the Ford to the holden as a sleeping place?

I like the pepper idea...... If that doesn't work you could also give the bonnet several coats of a polish and when you catch them on there spray them with water. If you are concerned about the cats scratching the bonnet when you scare the crap out of them, the polish may help protect your paint work.

Good Luck. Let us know how you go.

theres a spray you can get,
we as humans cant smell it but cats hate it,
get a towel, drench it in the stuff, put the towel near your bonnet (maybe bottom of windscreen)
we did that on the beamer, cat then decided it hated the car and stayed inside
worth a shot mate

Russellw - delete this one too - it's cruel.
I just figured you might need some help spotting the difference between humour and cruelty !

In regards to your Cats mate - The bushy tailed one looks quite similar to mine - For years i thought it was just a bit of everything but i found it in a cat book and the breed is a "Mayne Coon". Interesting history on them also - How old is he/she? Mines 18 lol

haha we're probably going to have a few more soon, Other is going to have kittens again in about 8weeks by the looks of it. dont know if any will stay with us, I guess ill make a tread again and if any get left over they'll stay

With the last lot i really liked bibble she was a really playful one, Heljas gave her a good home though, otherwise I would have kept her!

If I want them off the car I can get inside and start it normally (no revving otr anything needed) and they know it's time to move on, sometimes if i'm moving the car around the front yard or into the garage the big gray one (persian) just stays there on the hood:P

Gotta be careful doing that though don't want him sliding off, but at 5km/h shouldn't hurt him, if i want to leave to goto work or something and he decides he wants to stay on I have to pick him up and put him on the floor

Its a He, and we've had him since June 2000, so his about 7years old now

Our oldest one Roxy is 11 and still going strong, his the boss and every other cat/dog knows it - a few years back we had neighbors coming to us because he was beating up their dog (wasn't no little one either some big black thing!) His one tough cat!

Heres a thread I made last year, has pics of the cats and last years kittens for anyone interested

A friend of my wifes (drives a black SS ute) was minding our Staffy several years ago and was letting her sleep in the garage. His old man was over for the weekend (drives a black Calais) and they decided to start the cars up in the garage - both loud V8's. The dog freaked and headed for high ground, right on the bonnet of the ute then across to the bonnet of the Calais. How guilty did I feel!! Offered to pay for damage but bith agreed that it was pretty dumb starting & reving the cars in the garage with the dog and said they'd cover the insurance themselves.

Persian isnt actually a Persian:P

My little brother named him when he was like 9 after a Pokemon called Persian:P

I'm guessing he is probably a Mayne Coon, haven't really done much research into it though

LOL - (Slaps Forehead)

I found him in this cat encyclopedia i have at home..If i get the chance ill scan it and send it to you -

Just an example of his toughness - I used to live on a farm and was hitting golf balls with my driver into the dams -
He ran past just as i swung and i hit him in the head point blank....Ball went 50 odd meters perpendicular to the direction i was aiming - Blood out the nose - Out the ears- Out the mouth - Thought i killed him but he came good.

Hes blind in that eye now tho lol
