A 2 Litre Escort would eat him for breakfast, although a decent one for two grand are a little hard to find these days (if you do see one for that price let me know. :P).
My EB has beaten new Holden Statesmans, one P plater in particular who just couldn't resist every time he used to see me. :tosser1: Just make sure you end up getting a car that you want for you and not just spending money to beat your mate.

I have an EA S packer MPFI manual and I'm telling you, they are overrated. They really are not as fast as people on this forum make them out to be. Not only would my mates auto VP commo destroy my EA in a straight line, it womps it around the twisty stuff too, and it's a hell of a nice ride to boot. I think your would really struggle to beat a VS for $2000 or less. Only way I can think of would be to buy a little turbo Starlet or Pulsar or something.

I saw a comparasin between the VN and the EA when they first came out. It was in wheels magazine. The cars were dead even, until the drivers got in and started the engines. The VN Sh*t all over the EA. I would imagine that the VP has more go that the VN, so the EA would have no hope in hell.

Any MPI manual XF, EA will do the job. They are cheap buy, cheap to fix & easy to get parts for than any old commy that why most taxis are Falcons.

Yeah go the 4.1 XF manual my mate has one of them and it was buggered with over 400 000km and running on gas and it still kept up with my other mates auto VN which can keep up with other VS auto's.

Here's another idea - get a half cut of a Jap import with a mild 4 cylinder turbo motor - you said you were driving a Corolla, drop one in that if it is your car. If it isn't yours then go for a Falcon/Cortina with some mods I suppose

You're better off updating your BMX for a better model , and saving your paper round money for a little longer.

Besides, then you could have the added satisfaction of saying to him afterwards "How does it feel to get beaten by a car with an engine almost half the size of yours?" or "would you like some cookies to go with the 2L of milk that just owned your @rse?" LOL

oh dear, why buy a heavy lunk to try and beat it?????
EA's are a waste of money for speed imo, if you insist on getting anything like an ea get teh eb or even better the ed, i had an EA.....never again, my 2litre eski flogged it, had the launch hands down, plus my carby was stuffed. go the corty bro, but make sure its the 250 X-flow, not the 2L lol dont bother trying to beat him, nothing great bout beating a commonwhore, get something youll like to drive and looks god, which imo the corty has both, both the TE and TD. but yeah, keep racing to the track, enough douche bags crashing and making it worse for the rest of us

Go the light car, decent motor and good gearing route. I had a '63 Mk I Cortina Consul Deluxe (gotta add the "deluxe"). These came std with a 1200. Keep the diff (geared at 4.125:1), install a 2.0L with a manual (you should be able to get as a set) add a decent carb, I had a twin downdraught weber on mine. This thing would flog any XE/D/F series six (or dunnydore six) and make turbo Laser drivers cry. I scared quite a few 8's with it as well. Only problem is it will be revin' pretty well at any speed over 80 mph....

However, I have an idea :P BUY AN EX-TAXI!! For 2 grand, you can have a fridge spec white EL, with its weight reduction, being the absolute most basic GL you can get, it will easily flog your friend. Umm. A word on reliability. Its a mixed bag really. If it starts costing you lots of money, sell it quick... but at least you owned your mate.

the original reviews EAvsVN gave the ea such a bad wrap becuse of its 3speed+2.77 diff which made it hopeless in a straight line. An EA 5speed was quite quick for its day. 0-100 7.5, 400m 15.5sec stock.

last year i hired another but it was 1.3 and not so impressive, still brisk in performance but the 1.5 is a little BEAST. (if they styled them on an XE sedan in the same GETZ size and rear wheel drive with LSD i'd buy one!!!) |

I say buy a 4.1 cortina, we put alot of commie drivers to shame in our old beast! By the way, my old bog stock ea GL 5 speed used to pull half a car length on my mates slightly modified VS ute, which in turn ate stock VS sedans

Taken from woglife.com. Taming ur VL turbo: "Tell everyone at the drags that you're running 32psi, and after the Cortina sucks your headlights out , say " oh my digital boost controller was stuck on 11psi "
But seriously all this to beat him?? |

That was going to be my comment... Whatever you're driving now, plus $2000 worth of nitrous - You'll only get one chance at it (and hours of fun afterwards picking conrods and bits of gearbox out of your shins), but you could get all that bogan respect you so desire!
