Cairns is awesome, theres lots to see and do.. Green Island, Esplanade, Kuranda, Markets, nude beaches, mudflats, and nice Restaurants you should definately drive north and along the coast, before hitting Port Douglas. and the Daintree, mate dont leave the place until you go through that Wilderness.

You wouldnt be the first to try to drive to Green Is.... Marcy answered the restaurant bit...agree with that! If you like seafood get in now before the greenies close it all down and we eat imported mush from Vietnam. Forgot to mention fishing in my earlier post too. |

Will do for sure ......
I keep telling her to go in between the holidays but she feels guilty doing it. Air fares triple and have to follow the crowds! Hope its not too busy up there! Will keep informed on how it goes!

Been here a day .... Spent the day at Green Island. Was good and enjoyed it. Few whinges about it but a good intro to the GB Reef. If you havnt snorkeled before well worth it but if you want to see the reef proper the same ferry does the outer areas
Had dinner at Tha Fish .... Just loved it and wasn't silly prices for the quality. Last night had dinner on the Esplanade which was good. Very busy place and the boys in there skylines and commo utes love doing the curcuit for sure. Off to Port Douglas tomorrow and will spend the day just cruising .... In the Camry! I really really do not like them . Thanks for the recommendation on the restuarant. And yes ..... The weather at the moment is grouse!

Must say Mossman Gorge is a great place for a walk! Got caught in the rain but didn't matter. Once your wet it doesn't matter. Bit knackered now but ready to find another place to eat down the Esplanade.
On the train thingy tomorrow so of it does improve a little would be good but not worried. Still warm! Good being a tourist for a bit but drivers here and trucks just hate keeping left, more so than Melb! And wish the other tourists in Hyundies would pull over if they choose to travel at 50 ks on the hwy!

Just be grateful they are travelling on the proper side...
Several die each year on that PD road. Your assessment of the driving quality (not all will be tourists, the locals are just as bad) is being overly nice IMHO... |

In no real hurry so no probs but if I was using the roads daily would get a tad annoying I would say! Saw a nice XM ? Doing the esplanade circuit last night .

great to hear your enjoying your stay mate. Mossman walk is great regardless of weather in my opinion. They do call it a rainforest for a reason. haha
Last time I was there I went for a swim in the river. Its was low 30deg weather but the humidity was 95% so a swim was a must. Just made the trip more enjoyable. If you get the chance to have some grub in Trinity Beach, there is a place there that does sensational breakfasts, I mean SENSATIONAL. The place is called The Blue Moon Grill. http://www.bluemoongrill.com.au/menu.htm The 'forever summer' mixed berry waffle The 'big boy' banana waffles They even do fantastic dinners there, all at reasonable prices. Highly recommend the Egyptian Honey King Prawns Hope that wets ya appetite

Bloody got a Camry instead .... As the paperwork says in fine print "falcon or similar! Staying at the Palm Royal. Not bad at all and great pools!
Might have to go to trinity beach now! It's not that far away ..... And that made me hungry! Sky rail and train today in perfect weather. Watched the last 1/4 of the footy and might go for swim!
