Latest teaser video, again not giving us a great deal of info. Pause it towards the end as the screen-shots appear - most of that info goes over my head. One has 0-100 in 3.0.

Also the number 757 has been thrown around a fair bit. Note that it's on the dyno, so any mention of 757 could possibly refer to whp. If that's the case than crank hp should be 850-900.

Seeing that it will be approx 250 pounds lighter than the 2015 Hellcat (ran high tens off the show room with decent tyres) the Demon will have better and wider tyres, more hp, better induction and different and modified suspension for launch - under the right conditions this 2 ton 'boat' could break into the 9's.

And their is still more videos to be released until its official release next month. Don't know if I will be a fan of the side flairs but at least they will be there for a reason and not show.

This is pretty cool. It's from an earlier teaser, but it all starts to add-up now. It comes/ordered with a crate/drag pack option, what most of the 18 components are I don't know. I'm also under the belief that it comes standard with just the drivers seat, no back bench, and the passenger seat is an option.

Let's face it...at least they know how to advertise cars in the USA, unlike Ford and Holden here who are hamstrung by nanny-state advertising restrictions, or just plain laziness.

Wow that is delicious. But $200k.. no thankyou. There must be some way to shoehorn that wicked drivetrain into a stock looking BA or FG Falcon, for the ultimate sleeper.

For that coin I would buy the Commodore GTS R and pocket the $35,000, and have a better all round car and track vehicle.

Loses it's cool factor at that price. It would have been a low 11 second 1/4 car with a top speed 300+, and 63k drive-away...2 years ago.

Latest teaser: Bastards still won't give anything away. Seems to have superior launch and traction compared to the Hellcat. Sounds lumpier too.

lol at the number plate.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hb3PLfhYfU

Edit: Here's why it sounds different....

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon’s unique exhaust note is the result of an advanced torque reserve launch system – the first ever designed for a drag race application on a production car.

What is torque reserve? In plain English, it lets more air flow through the engine before launch, allowing for increased supercharger rpm without torque overwhelming the brakes and spinning the rear tires.

In the Challenger SRT Demon, torque reserve kicks in when Launch Mode is active and engine rpm is greater than 1,000.

Torque reserve does two things:
It closes the bypass valve on the supercharger, “prefilling” the supercharger
It manages fuel flow to cylinders and changes spark timing. To balance engine rpm and torque, the Challenger SRT Demon’s powertrain controller will briefly cut fuel flow to selected cylinders. This creates the noticeable change in the exhaust tone. The controller also advances or retards the ignition timing to fine-tune the engine rpm/torque balance

With torque reserve managing the engine output, the supercharged HEMI® engine can build boost pressure before leaving the starting line and reach maximum boost pressure quicker, taking full advantage of the SRT Demon’s increased weight transfer and increased contact patch drag radials to reduce 60-foot times.

What a freakin beast this thing will be, the ultimate definition of a PROPER muscle car.

Most muscle car enthusiasts like myself would love to turn back the clock to the late 60's/early 70's to be able to experience and possibly purchase the brutes that were available at the time.

It was all about maximum power capable of twisting a chassis from the torque available in a crappy 2/4-door frame with crappy brakes and crappy handling but all this must of been soon forgotten once you put the throttle down and basically had your rear end pile-driven back into the driver seat. The real muscle car enthusiasts probably didn't give two-hoots about the short-comings of these beasts back in the day.

I would happily give up one of my testicles to be able to own one of these things.

If you are after decent fuel economy, fancy interiors, are into 150KW 4 cylinder buzz boxes etc and cannot see the true meaning of the Demon then please move along.

All speculation atm, and it will more than likely be released detuned for people to play around with it at the strip.

Number Plate:

3.9 = litre supercharger.
221 = weight reduction in pounds.
405 = 10.00 minus .405 = 9.595 1/4 mile time.

Not long until the Demon's launch - here are some pictures that are floating around. Some authentic, others not so much.

This is an official picture. Got some decent rubber on the rear, a set of Nitto drag radials in 315 (get used to seeing the back of it)

More coming my photobucket just blew-up

These next two seem to be legit. The second picture is a phone-grab from a good Samaritan, can't really get a good idea of the rear flare but it looks heaps better with a black bonnet to break everything up.

2 from the set of the latest Fast and the Furious movie.

Last two. Either an artists impression (photoshop) or a Hellcat mod. You get the idea, I don't think they're far off the mark.

Latest teaser is very similar to last weeks video..... anyway, least you get a half-decent shot of the front. 757 appears again as does a new coded number plate - nice tyre wrinkle and chin spoiler.

The supercharger sounds brutal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OStLj_FviR4

''The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon leverages a performance feature that is sure to make it one for the history books. Unlocked on March 23, the newest teaser, “Lock and Load,” shares a feature that not only delivers the highest level of dedicated drag car technology offered in a production car but also, until now, could only be found in the aftermarket for "track use only" vehicles.

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is the first ever, factory production car with a TransBrake™. This exclusive performance feature enables the SRT Demon to produce launch forces previously unattainable by street legal production vehicles. Quicker power delivery and higher engine launch torque potential are achieved by locking the output shaft of the automatic transmission to keep the vehicle stationary until launch.

Conventional vehicle launches consist of the driver using one foot on the brake and one on the accelerator pedal to increase engine speed while holding the vehicle stationary, known as foot-brake launch or two-footing. The SRT Demon’s TransBrake feature provides improved reaction times and more consistent launches by utilizing the steering wheel paddle shifters as a launch trigger. Using the driver’s finger exclusively to trigger launch of the SRT Demon results in a 30 percent reaction time advantage over foot-brake launches.

By locking the output shaft of the transmission, the Challenger SRT Demon’s TransBrake works in conjunction with Torque Reserve to achieve:
Brake-free launches up to 2,350 RPM
105 percent increase in launch boost pressures
120 percent increase engine launch torque

To make sure the SRT Demon can take full advantage of maximum torque at launch, the TransBrake feature also includes a driveline preload process. Preloading ensures engine torque is applied through the entire driveline all the way to the rear wheels. The result is full engine torque delivery where the tires touch the ground 150 milliseconds after the paddle shifter is released. Preloading the driveline also provides reduced component spike loads and thus less potential of component damage. The overall result is faster acceleration at launch, better 60-foot times and improved quarter-mile times.

The TransBrake feature also compliments the SRT Demon’s new lightweight brake package, designed to enable the use of narrow front-runner wheels at the drag strip. With TransBrake holding the SRT Demon steady, more torque is available via higher engine rpm without fear of overwhelming the reduced grip of braked front runners. This gives the SRT Demon up to 40 percent more available launch torque compared to vehicles with front runners using a foot-brake launch.''

The dodge retro revival is one amazing turnaround . Not too long ago they were making disgusting plastic abominations like dodge nitro, dodge neon. Now they are making these. Ford played it similar with the 05+ mustang. It's a pity that Ford Australia never got a chance to reboot the Falcon legacy with a similar retro reboot. Would have been an amazing post-FG proposition.

Not really sure what they are trying to achieve. If it's a factory drag car then Ford already have the turn key Cobra Jet drag cars that would show this thing it's taillights, and GM have the COPO Camaro drag cars that would do the same.

Although they can't be registered. I suppose Chrysler are trying to do both, drag car and can be run on the street.

Falcon is dead, move on. Americans buy their own product ie dodge, Australians didnt.

Sweet car though.

No mustang or Camaro compares to what dodge has done with hellcat and now this thing. I just wish they'd sell them here.
I had a close up look at a green hellcat that's cruising around Adelaide. Mind blowing !!!!
Owner Rekons there's 8 in oz. cost him near 200k all up to get it on the road here.

Dodge have definitely gone against the grain. They released the Hellcat, an Icon that was 2.2 ton and pulled mid 11's on an average day. Now they're backing it up with another icon in the Demon - both iconic!

Hopefully it starts a hp war.

Speaking with local Jeep SRT dealer after buying an SRT, he indicated we would get the Jeep Track Hawk (grand Cherokee with hell cat running gear) about 6 months after official US release, and the current plan is to bring the Dodge Charger/challenger platform to Aus after the major platform upgrade in 2019/2020 ish time frame as this will be on the Alfa Guillia platform architecture

They dont want to do the RHD engineering and compliance work on a end of model lifecycle car which makes sense

Given the hellcat and Jeep SRT are similar prices in US would expect similar pricing here in Aus

So pretty sure in the fullness of time we have a good chance of seeing them but at least 3-5 years would be my guess

BTW they are now doing an AWD version of the V6 so imagine an AWD Demon ??? would help with the traction issues

I heard in regards to the Hellcat/Demon that AWD could possibly be on the next chassis, most likely slightly wider - probably why they used flares on the Demon, for now.

They've gotten rid of most of the traction issues that the Hellcat had for the Demon. Now running wider drag radials, suspension mods, torque reserve system and transmission brake - could be even more.

Also with the crate option, they've only named about 12 of the 18 items it comes with (all tools are from Snap-on), the most recent being an ECM.

Cheers for the inside info, sounds good!
