[Nostalgia]

I never passed maths from Gr1 thru to Year 11. Left school at 16 and was a Checkout Operator at the local Coles Supermarket. Left there to work for Pacific Dunlop. Was there for 10 years(redundancy payout). They moved offshore so i got a job at a local Engineereing firm. 4 years of TIG welding Catalytic Converters and they shut down (redundancy payout). Im now doing CNC Programming with another local Engineering firm. Not bad for someone who never passed maths at school. Weird thing is im still hopeless with maths but i can read a CAD drawing and make that part on a MAZAK to within .02 of given dimensions.

I decided at the end of year 12 that moving from the country to the city to go to uni wasnt really what i wanted to do, even though my enter score was high and I got into the course I wanted to do. I started working part time at the local supermarket in year 12, when I finished my boss asked me if i wanted to stay on and work full time. The store was destroyed by a fire, so was re-located to an old sports hall while the new building was built. I worked my way up and after setting up the new supermarket was managing it. I bought my first new car when I was 18 1/2 (a brand new laser at the time) my first house when I was 19, traded my car when I was 19 1/2 (for an AUII XR6 Ute). I purchased another house as an investment when I was 21 and traded the Ute again last August for a BF XR8 Ute. I'm now just turned 25 and have recently moved to Traralgon. I manage a large chain retail store, I currently have 4 houses and own the ute outright. I am also planning on going to uni part time in the not too distant future to finish my advanced account diploma, which i started as a work based traineeship.
I found it really hard being female and trying to get guys to respect me as a manager, especially in the larger stores, but I have worked really hard at it, and have finally got there.

well i am a pretty subdued person, and never really feel too great about myself (not depressed or anything, just never really look back at what i have achieved if you know what i mean) so this didn't really come to me till just then.

had a pretty good run through high school, slacked off, had a ton of fun with my mates, was doin ok, gettin through it. decided 4 weeks before TEE that i needed to pull my finger out, did it and get a good enough ter to get into uni in 2000.

some would say that my life went south then but it was all an expierence to me. was at uni just scraping through, going to too many raves and frying my brain, but was gettin through, just.
last semester came and i got a gf who pointed me on the straight and narrow, gave up the gear, and started saving some money. got really good grades (found out how much more i could have achieved i guess) and graduated in mid05.
treated myself to the car and started as an assistant accountant. did that for 6 months but then gave that away chasing more coin. got a full time job at a fruit and veg shop and began saving (with the hours i was doing there i was taking home ~800/week!). saved enough to put a deposit down on a new place before the housing market got out of hand and will be moving into within then next month.

Have also just taken a new job as a management accountant at the same fruit and veg shop starting in 3 weeks.

Also have found my calling from a top member of AFF and am going to get into the stock market (i love numbers for some reason..). his help and support has been great and i cant wait until watching the market is all i have to pass the time. thanks optrader!

great stories guys! i see a lot of ppl here will/already have achieved a lot of success in life!

here is my story thus far...

basically im a youngn' aswell but have big plans for the future!

Born in Poland, moved to Australia when I was 3, went to highscool in Radelaide and worked at subway earning a very small wage but saved enough money to purchase my 1st car. I also studied very hard as well and was always in the top few academic students in my year (but still played lots of sport/had a social life). Moved to Brisbane with my folks at the beginning of yr 12 (2003) and continued the subway thing and studied hard again to get into university.

Began my dual degree in International Business and Commerce in 2004 and chose to major in Applied Finance, Banking & Funds Management, International Economics & International Marketing (very heavy workload to squeeze this into 4 years). In 2005 (at 19) I flew to Japan and worked at a ski resort in Nagano, then as an English Instructor for a big corporation in central Tokyo. This was such an experience.... a 19 year old teaching 50 year old managers of large corporations on how to improve their business english... I sure learnt a lot about myself during this time!

When i returned I changed to a higher paying job (so I could buy my XR6..) and save for things I wanted to do before graduating. I recently came back from a 5 week holiday in Europe and I'm looking forward to graduate at the end of the year. I also have a great job lined up in the Business Risk department of a top tier accounting firm.

My immediate plans are to begin my new job and purchase an investment property asap whilst still living at home (perhaps go halves with my folks on initial property) and build my share portfolio. In the long-term, I basically hope to develop a diversify my investments and work for myself.. not for a boss!

I think ive had a lot of luck in my life so far, but ive also worked hard..... im truly starting to believe that u make your own luck in life! Im very satisifed at what ive achieved so far, and at 21 I am hoping for a bright future!

im 19, in my 3rd year of uni and work 3 jobs to help run my car and other hobbies. not happy, therefore not successful. hopefully end of next year ill have a nice portfolio, pi ss off my 3 current jobs and work at a design firm :
