Did you take any pics mate?
Cant get my head around where these clips would be located and how you would force them without damage.
Thanks in advance.

As for the switch you are looking for, have you tried these guys;

******************************.au/
http://www.allford.com.au/

Nothing to lose dropping them an email. There must be some fev zetec's being broken up and the switch would survive most crashes.

Unfortunately, no pics. We were doing the whole thing via torchlight.

I'll take some pics of the final product when i get home today.

The clips are located on the left, right, top and bottom edge of the surround. It is a snap in plastic clip, so to take them off you're going to have to stick a flat head screwdriver in the outside edge of the surround and bend the surround a bit to remove the clip.
Again, if you take the surround off, the front end of your fez is gonna be supremely ugly/ghetto.
You could buy some replacement bulbs and have an auto electrician snap them in for you if you don't feel up to doing it yourself.

Gotta love dealer gouging.

Zetec light switch assy is ~$350
One on the LX/CL is ~$90

That's a fair point, and not wanting to go in to bat for dealers but...
I contacted an ebay seller of genuine parts, who also turns out to be a SA dealer, about the illuminated gear knob. I can buy the part from the USA for around $160 landed, where the Aussie ebay one was about $260. His reply was that Ford Australia set the prices. He did drop the price to just under $230, but he claimed to be tied to Ford pricing.
I believe him simply because if I were a franchisee and another franchisee undercut me would not be tolerated.

I would be contacting all the ford wreckers in the hope you could salvage the part.

Yea, I checked 4-5 wreckers and no dice. Probably the WT Zetec is still too relatively new/rare to be widely available at wreckers.

I ended up going to a UK based dealer network instead and when we puzzled out which panel would work (they had a huge range of different panels, even for the WS/WT range, auto rain sensing wipers, demisters, etc) it works out to be ~£110 for the switch assembly and £5.75 each side for the surrounds.
We haven't worked out the shipping yet, but I'm expecting around £35 - £40.

Ordering from the US is pretty dangerous though, since their Fez has an entirely re-worked front end and again, left hand drive.

The US Fiesta is indeed different inside.
The armrest I am getting for the Fez has to be "Euro Spec" as the American one has different anchor points.
strange but true.

Took a couple of quick snaps today while I was out and there was still sun.

Again, still waiting on the switch and the surrounds, right now the surrounds that are on it are jenky aftermarket ones which are a little too small.

Apart from those surrounds being a little small, I reckon the black suits the car.
I note the chrome surrounds on the Zetec blend with the zetecs chrome highlights. With yours the black ones blend well with other black highlights on the vehicle.

Thanks Pursya. I figured a random piece of chrome on the car where there isn't anywhere else wouldn't be too flash hot.

But the package has arrived! Looks like my weekend is sorted.

Now I'm looking at the switch, it looks like the front fog light has an adjustment knob on it as well.

It's a dial you twist that surrounds the button itself. Is that the dimmer?

Maybe it's for adjustable headlights. I've got an extra adjuster on my Focus foglight switch (more of a twirly old-radio-style touch, though), but it doesn't do anything because I only have manually adjustable headlights.

Doing a bit of googling and came across this.

Looks like it's an auto adjustment for the fog lights, specifically pointing it up and down for high/low loads.

Yes, adjustable headlights.
The Euro Barina XC had the same thing, though in a different configuration.

So went ahead and installed the new switch and surrounds today.

Started off by taking off the aftermarket surrounds:

The Genuine parts are so much chunkier and fit much better. No rattle and snaps in easily, rock solid.

Genuine:

Aftermarket:

Pulled off the side panel with a flat head screwdriver.

This part really sucked, again, alot of finger hurting twisty action to disengage the upper clip. Lower clip was fairly easy to get to.

Reconnected the wire to the new switch and snapped it back in

The aftermath is some very nice solid surrounds on the lamps and, well, you saw the switch.
Front foggies still dont work

Main High/Dipped beams work, rear fog lights work and the entire switch lights up, the front fog button including the adjustment numbers around it too. Might take it to an auto electrician to figure this one out.

Do you need a relay put in to the fuse box to make them work?

Yea, the relay specifically for the front foggies already exists in the fuse box as well as the fuse as well.

But looking at the wires in the loom that plugs into the back of the switch, I'm thinking the wiring may not exist now. There's alot of blanks in the loom. I tried looking up the wiring diagram and tried to find the corresponding wires for all the switches coming off the switch panel and couldn't get all of them to match up (UK book vs AU car?).
Anyway, I think I'll be taking it to a professional shop to have it sorted. If worse comes to worse, we could probably just rig up a separate relay and plug it into the blanks in the loom.

Been pouring over a few wiring diagrams in this thread and I can confirm there's a wire in the slot for the front fog lights that corresponds to the colour combo listed in the wiring diagram.

Oh man, i really hope it's not the switch

As you have discovered, the wiring would exist.
Economies of scale means there is no alternative wiring looms made these days.

wouldn't be easy to test whether it's the switch or not by manually shorting the actual wires? or is that too risky?

No need to short anything, just put a voltmeter (or one of those circuit testers that have a small globe in the handle) across the two points and see if a circuit is created when you switch the lights on. If yes, you have an issue with the cabling from the switch to the lights.

Done some work on the multimeter and was able to check everything seems to be fine and matches up 1:1 with the wiring diagram i have from my Haynes workshop manual, so I took it into a auto electrician.
They told me that again, nothing's wrong with the wiring and there's no conceivable reason why it's not working. The one most probable reason they came up with was that since it runs through the fusebox, the ECU most likely has some measure of control over the systems.

Just called a Ford dealer's service dept and they say there's a Central Control System on these new cars and most likely that's got something to do with it. Waiting for him to get back to me with an answer from the ford dealer technical hotline now.

Cheers mate,

Electrically, there was no problem with the install. It was the central electronics management system that didn't recognize this model as having Fog lights.
Took it to Thompson Ford over at Parramatta and they hooked it up to their computer and enabled the option for me.
Worked pretty much right after the switch was flicked. It's got the same on parameters as the rear fogs though.

Would only work if you have the low beams on and has to be turned on every time you start the car

digging up an old thread ta for doing the leg work i can also confirm loom, relay and fuses are there just missing the switch in the switch box on the dash.
Priced around from the wreckers zetec light switch is $110. on the shopping list now.

also now i know what the box looks like and how its clipped in, it is easier to remove the little pocket below and reach up and unclip the light switch box....that way you do not need to unscrew or pull any parts off the car.

did ford charge you to hook it up to the computer to activate the fog's
i'm trying to get my cruise working as all wiiring is there and all the switches but the local ford dealer says there is a day in it and leave it with them and they will add all the parts they need to finish it, they were not interested in hooking it up and activating the cruise control just to see if it works
when i get my fogs in i might call a few dealers to see who wants to do it

Yea, they charged me for it. Thompson Ford in Parramatta did it for $100. At that point, I was just sick and tired and just paid for it, but in hindsight, could have probably gotten them to do it for less or maybe even free if the car was in there already for something else.
The switch and fog surrounds were around $110 from Hendy Group in the UK too, brand new.
