if the exams you were doing are anything to do with english or grammar etc, you may as well give up now.

Unfortunately at this time of year schools are cutting down on all sorts of stuff. They even tried to cancel our last day of school to avoid muck up day! Previous years the students stuffed up and have wrecked it for future generations. But yeah stopping you from gettting a lift to school is wrong! Just tell your mate to park up the road

I went to both private and public school. No driving other students rule applied to both schools, and that was in 99'. We used to just get a mate pick us up from the 7 11 up the street.

I got banned from driving to school. I decided it was easier to drive to the tuckshop then walk. That went on for a week before someone cracked the SSSSS.

Had a mate back in school who used to ride his mortorbike in to school everyday. He wore his leathers over his uniform so he wouldn't be identified, parked in the next street, put his helmet and leathers in his bag and walked into school. They couldn't do jack about it.

Sounds like the school staff member is on a power trip.
However, what stands out most is the solitary hope that you don't expect to pass English/Grammar.

Unfortunately thats actually a government enforced rule, or so the schools say. It was made after a group of kids was killed in their mates car which crashed during lunch time, so far enough I think.

A Long time ago in a city far, far away...
I went to a high school in Wollongong, NSW. It was a good school when I was there (1983 - 1988) but my sister won't send her kids there as it has gone downhill big time (discipline, for example). There were three school rules: Whatever you do, you are responsible for it. If you don't do it at home then you don't do it at school. If you don't like it done to you, then don't do it to anyone else. It worked, too. I, at the time, had a particularly loud and green Mini with a Cooper S motor in it, very distinctive. Only three year 12's had cars of their own (self, a bloke with a Camira, and a girl who I was friends with who inherited a faded PURPLE Cortina 250!). I occasionally drove to school, but not often, and deliberately parked in the school carpark right next to the Industrial Arts' teacher's blue Mini. He used to just laugh it off. Self and a mate did have to get a waiver signed by Mum and Dad so we could drive to sport, though. Dead easy, just a piece of paperwork.

just parked at a mates place 2 mins down the road!

Ahaha, We had to get a sticker on our car to say we could park on school grounds, and we werent allowed to park with the teachers...
So they gave us a spot across the road next to the metalworks rooms. Had a driveway that was practically on a 45 degree angle so there was no hope of the EB XR8 getting up there so i parked with the teachers until the last day when we all parked on the indoor basketball court.... Good times.....

Haha I just finished school last year.
We never had any rules like that. You were suppose to have a 'parking permit' but I never got one. My mates and I would leave every lunch to get a feed and teachers didnt have a problem with it. I guess it was a pretty laid back school Only had 1 teacher complain to me and I told him to stick it up his *** because Im not going to waste my time. He said fair enough I would definately try the letter approach. Get your (and your mates) parents to call the school and explain the situation to the principal. Or even meet in person with him/her. I will always remember the couple of days I got to take my brother's VU SS to school. I smoked that thing up all the way down the front of the school past the principles office : You could smell the rubber still when you walked into class 5 minutes later. Good times |

good old school days, couple people got banned from driving 2 school from driving too fast, and then half the people got banned because a parent ( also a copper ) complained we were doing burnouts leaving the car park, so a teacher hid in the bushes across the road writing down number plates. now thats entrapment haha

haha so many memories
we had a similar thing happen, but except we all left school to go into town for lunch, etc.... that was apparently against the law or such as the school is responsible for students during school hours... then a rule was enforced to hand in our keys in the morning.....like hell they did nothing and could do nothing they then tried to block of our little parking spot... lucky we had some guys who owned landcruisers and cleared that for us there may be a rule saying that they can not allow you from driving to school, but park off school grounds and walk...they cant ban you from walking to school.. that would be promoting obesity... imagine the bad publicity funny thing is as most of us year 12's in the day had cars we all left on the last day and went to a swimming hole....same day i cooked my power steering pump showing off by going in circles on a wide open field....so listen to your teachers

This thread is all about jeapordizing your entire future by making mistakes at school. Luckily so few of you have a future that all this fuss is over nothing.... eat gum, throw sticks, set fires. Go play.

i copped this rule as well. just copped it on the chin and got a note. its more for insurance and safety reasons. its known that a few people have been killed on the way to school/exams, car load of mates, no one knew who was in the car.
we were getting hassled by police (there was about 10 p-platers in my year 12, all of whom had awesome cars), so we all parked down the side streets and "walked" to school everyday. most teachers are cool, some would ask us to give them a lift to maccas that was down the road. some would come out and check the cars out. some would even help us do any work to them |

They didn't care about us really, just wanted to make sure that their enrolments didn't drop off. The only time I had to give a note in to travel in a friend's car was for an excursion to a school nearby for a careers expo. But it was only for the trip to and from the excursion since we went straight from home to the expo, and then back to school at lunchtime.

This is just a storm in a tea cup. Remember the first day you or your parents signed into the school? Oh yes I promise to follow school policy..sign..sign...here is my deposit. If you don't like it MOVE. There is at least one school in every suburb. No skin off their back, you will always be replaced! If you don't want to move eat a couple of tea spoons of concrete and harden up. Rules are Rules..School only prepares you for the real world. It's for your safety.

we had a rule that we were only allowed to park in a certain spot which was far away from the main bulding. i didnt have a problem with it until my car got keyed, 2 tyres let down and my spoiler ripped of in the space of a week and the school didnt do nothing about it. i was ****ed

Hehe at our school we needed a special parking permit sticker that had to be applied for then purchased for $10 BUT the actual designated parking was off school grounds, around the corner on the nature strip! Needless to say half the grade never had a sticker.
Our deputy had NFI about anything "...There has been reports of braking skids and wheelies in the senior parking area..." The quickest car there was probably a 14 sec 300zx which id love to see it do a wheelstand...
