The RS itself is a bit more special than a standard Mustang GT, but I think it will be quite different between the 2 Based on region. Traditional Euro LHD markets I'd imagine will see the Mustang GT more expensive, the US I think the RS will be more expensive. RHD markets could be close.

It will be worth more to certain people but it will be interesting as to how they pitch it here.

I dont think Ford had any trouble shifting the MK2 RS. mid 60k was the price or there abouts, and they have held their value well. If the new Mustang and Focus RS are similarly priced, i know which one id choose and it doesnt have 2 doors. I do like the new mustang though.
More interestingly though will it be built in Michigan aswell as Saarlouis? Sounds petty i know but for me it takes away some specialness if its built somewhere other than the heart of ST/RS territory.

I would think if they want it to sell in good numbers in the US they would have to build them there too.
Do any of the M, AMG or RS cars get built in America or do they all come out of Germany? |

RS is the pinnacle of the Focus range, compare it to the pinnacle of the Mustang range and I'm fairly sure most would say the Mustang is a lot more special. I loved the last RS but seeing one next to a 13 GT500 leaves no doubt as to what is "more special". The new model will be no different, compare it to the GT350R. |

Why not compare it to the Raptor as well?
The question wasn't originally about which was best, but about price. As special as the Focus RS is, it's still a small car, which will bring the price down compared to other psycho Ford's. |

I never said either/or was best Oh and for what it's worth I would rather have a RS Focus over any other of the hot hatch competition. |

Plus it looses its rarity value if they start making it a regular production car.

Its got a bit of Golf R about it but it looks good.

Looks great and on paper it's an impressive car, I'm keen on the Mustang but AWD and the potential of the Ecoboost is a pretty tempting combination.

IIRC the current STi is pretty much bang on $50k. Thats a fair difference for cars that might perform in a similar manner? Does that not put a bit of pressure on Ford to keep price down a bit? Also given its a more "global" car the economics should be a bit better?

Seeing the back to back tests between this Focus RS vs the STi vs the EVO vs the AMG A45 and any other AWD hot hatch out there will be the very interesting factor.

Wow I did not expect this to have awd, that will change things! Apart from the Sierra Sapphire Cosworth has Ford done any other awd performance cars?

Both Escort and Sierra Cosworth were 4x4, along with the RS200 but the later is a Group B rally car.
