I have owned my Trend EcoBoost hatch for four months now and I am extremely happy with it. When I took it in for the 3000Km complementary service I didn't have anything to complain about, and still don't at just over 5000 Km. The MD Mondeo is a great car which I enjoy driving.
My daughter recently purchased a new Focus Trend EcoBoost hatch after being so impressed with my Mondeo! Last edited by DougalXR6; 18-04-2016 at 05:31 PM. Reason: Spelling |

Looks great with those rims. I see you've gone for the Euro style plates, which really suit the Mondeo.

Some pictures of my Mondeo ready to take my daughter to her wedding, with it's little sister, my other daughter's new Focus Trend.

Thanks. The day could not have gone better.
Apart from a few nervous moments everyone had a great time. |

Does anyone else have a misaligned tailgate on their Mondeo?

It looks more like a manufacturing defect, because the top of the boot still aligns ok, it seems like only the pressed curve under the light is off.
Here's a photo of mine as a reference, if I was nitpicking, it might be half a mm put, but nothing as obvious as yours. |

The dealer had been very helpful and had taken the car to the panel shop to get it realigned, but they said that was the best they could do. Going to contact Ford to see what, if anything, they have to say about this ...

The tailgate on mine is slightly out of alignment as well, although it is more noticeable on the right hand side then the left. I hadn't noticed it before.
I had noticed the misalignment between the front fender and the bonnet, as the attached picture shows. I wasn't too concerned as all other panels are in perfect alignment. Last edited by DougalXR6; 11-05-2016 at 04:48 PM. |

You know, I've just checked the pics when it was still on the showroom floor and indeed the RH/R is out a bit.
Everything else is spot on, Dougal lift the bonnet and look for the bonnet stop rubber you may need to counter clockwise turn it to lift the bonnet a wee bit to align it a bit better. I'll post pic's I have with the front and rear tonight. |

It appears that there's a bit of inconsistency between Ford's build quality then. Looking at 2ndMondeo and Bungfritz's cars, the alignment of the tailgate appears to be spot on, yet mine and a few others have the tailgate a bit off.
Spoke to the dealer again today and they're going to take it to another panel shop for a second opinion to see if this can be fixed. Maybe I'm too much of a perfectionist because there's really only a couple of millimetres in it, but to me, it is just far too obvious - especially in white - that I know it'll annoy me if it were left at that. I've messaged Ford as well now, and really hope it'll be resolved. I really, really like the car otherwise. The panel alignment on the rest of the car is pretty much spot on.

Thanks for the advice Cobrin, the bonnet is now in perfect alignment on the left hand side and is much better on the right.

For me the panel above the front right wheel is out of alignment relative to the bonnet (or vice versa). Dealer said they could try to fix it but couldn't guarantee a good outcome. I've decided not to worry about it. After all, I bought a Ford not a BMW .

I see your point; it was raised by the panel shop when they said that they couldn't get it much better than that (actually, their words were that if I wanted the panels to align perfectly, I should've bought a Mercedes).
My dealer isn't giving up, though, the car is going to a second panel shop to get another opinion. I have also contacted Ford about this issue, so between them I hope that there will be a solution. I'm not expecting it to be perfect to the nanometre. Just so long as it isn't obvious from about a metre back from the car when viewed with the naked eye. I would probably accept it if it was 1mm out, but not 5mm.

It could be that the entire tailgate is a bit out of whack, so no amount of realignment is going to make it perfect. I'll bring my tape measure next time I check the car in person.

I took delivery of my new MD Mondeo Titanium on Saturday. Still waiting on the 10 double spoke rims that I ordered, which could be several weeks away, but I'm happy with the car for now.
Apologies for the quality of the pictures. My camera needs updating.

We're they able to fix the tailgate alignment issue okay? I'm still waiting for my Ruby Red Diesel Titanium hatch. The good news is that it is on its way. Gets to Fremantle on the 24th. I hoping to have it by the middle of June - fingers crossed. |

Congrats on finally getting your Mondeo. It's taken too long, but it's good to hear that you've got some positive news at last. I've seen a handful of new Mondeos on the road, but I've never seen a ruby red one except on here. Frozen white has been by far the most popular colour I've seen.

I have to agree with you. In the sun light they look magnificent. I have had more complements for my Ruby Red Mondeo than I ever had for my Sensation Blue FG XR6. Last edited by DougalXR6; 29-09-2020 at 08:40 PM. |

I think the high waist line and the huge wheel arches that dwarf even 18 inch wheels might have something to do with it. You need the 19 inch rims that you get in other markets (why not here???) to fill those wheel arches better.
