most locksmiths only have the later model blank.. I had my brother EB key cut and they used the AU/BA key blank... Did you ever get a key cut?

provided that that key and fob are matched.

the key could be anywhere from AU 1 - BA (dunno when the new keys rolled out)

and the fob can be anywhere from E(whichever had central locking) - AU 1

i would definetly say it is for AU1 or later, EB-EL has a more rounded key like the one lower in the pic, so my guess is something later than EL

Its an AU update key.. Late 1999 / Early 2000.

Same time as they made power windows standard in AUI Fortes (front) and removed clear side indicators of AUI Monts and Mont Ghias..

The key Fob changed on series II to included unlock, lock, boot and panic...

More to the point, who really cares??

Recode the remote to another car and throw the key in the bin.. We have keys floating around from old work cars occasinally, i just keep the fobs and chuck the key..

Default EL remote

Just happened to be pulling apart and EL remote (a friend's car) and a Google took me to this post. The remote doesn't work and that is why I have it apart looking at it. Looks pretty good inside and the battery is good but I am stumped as to what is wrong with it.

Seeing how I have it apart the details on it are:

9905 069 046 M74AB (black chip)

S+M (silver thingy which I think is a transistor)
R1534
AJ4

inside the plastic cover it has PA66

Just playing devils advocate. Any chance they came with one of your cars from a dealership and you never actually checked them in the excitment of getting a new car?

Or another possiblity, ever hired a car and dropped it back out of hours forgetting to return the keys in the drop box?

Or family/friends or neighbours asked you to look after a house/car whilst they were away?

Just so that you know it does not fit the glovebox and there is no lock inthe tailgate.
I know it is old and the car is probably gone but it is a factory roof rack key
