If this car is released, I'm selling up my FPV and moving over to Holden. Not because of the 370KW's but the style, look and innovation of GM is making Ford look like a second rate car company.

The interior is too plain but the LCD screen is nice 'racey' touch.
Love the pillarless look! And those are the tail lights HSV shouldve put in the E-Series. Im very disapoointed with the styling of this and the W427, the FG is a much nicer looking car, they just need some production ready/showcar halo FG models to slap everyone in the face with!

I sort of agree with you. On first glance this design was far more appealing to me than the other thing.

But now that i've been looking at this more and from the higher res pics, i don't really like how the front treatment. The more pronounced look of the front bar mixed with the bland headlights and grille make it look as if the car is hidden or tucked in behind the bars. Hope that makes sense.

Rear bar isn't the best either.

Over all though, 100 times better than the W427.

I congratulate them for pushing the envelope and being out there with design.

They can't please everyone.

FG series kinda looks bland with too many stylying cues from the BF. Something fresh would have been nice.

Only my opinion and worth .2 cents

The problem is that BF had too many styling cues from the yet to be released FG, not the other way around, but I can see why you'd think it looks a little bland. Remember though this thing is over the top because it's a concept car.

But there has been quite a bit on there already.

Everyone dont forget, Holden didn't have a heap of concept cars based on their brand new platform when they released the VE. It's been out for over a year now so the designers have had time to work on other projects since the VE design was finalised.

Ford are only just releasing their new model so Fords designers are not long finished working on it. We might see something special on the Ford stands next year.

Plus, while we might not like to admit it, Ford and Holden are playing on 2 different playing fields when it comes to specialty high performance and radical designs. Ford is much more conservative, especially in Aus, and Holden have been designing more radical stuff for a number of years now. Now that Ford have a large design and R&D facility with engineers and designers in the same numbers as Holden we may start seeing something special coming out of Fords design studios.

The difference at the moment between Holden and Ford is that Holden has the ability and flexibility to things like this even though there is no immediate financial advantage.

There management also seems to be more mature and astute.

Its chalk and cheese, FPV not having money to put new wheels on their cars.

HSV is designing some unreal concept cars...

Im willing to bet that the rims will be new come launch time, but for now I agree, not a great look.

And there you have it, I forgot about that POS.

GM are not stupid, and very rarely will they make a concept that does not introduce the public to future offerings. You shock the public now, get a reaction, and then work towards tailoring it; makes sense!

Read the title a new Holden Coupe/Monaro will be in production in 2009 I'm told. They will be utilising the reaction of this concept as the basis of their marketing in the US and other countries to formulate an export plan which it must have for it to happen (production that is)

That is a nice car definately, but i dont get it. GM lost 30Billion last year, so why are they waisting so much cash on a concept that has no real use other then to wow people at the motorshow. same with the GTS-R its not like they are going to make money off that either.

If that comes out anything like that it will probably be the next new car I buy.

It all depends on how watered down the actual production car will be.
As is I can't see this car looking as good as the previous Monaro.

If I can use Jeremy Clarkson style humor here, it has the sex appeal of a refrigerator. It reminds me of the old Vauxhall Astra

i guess with it being pillarless it would make it easy an viable to build a convertible version as well!
Would make it more cost effective if they released a coupe an convertible on the same platform.

A bit anticlimactic seeing as they said they were going to do something which knocks the socks off Ford. They did Monaro...oh sorry, Coupe60 before so it's not that big a suprise. Regardless of it's lack of suprise factor, it's not a bad looking car.

Because its a concept that will realise production next year. Clever marketing analysis as I mentioned above

I like it, pity Ford has nothing like that :(

I reckon with a few adjustments it will be launched in a couple of years time... no side-exit exhaust, standard seats, less aero treatment.
