Some people just cant drive.
Some people can only drive around town and cant drive at high speeds or on freeways. Some people can drive well in all occasions but have no consideration to other road users. Some people can drive well but get far too distracted by the occupants in the car. All these people will never change cause very few have the ability to shake off their bad habits and learn new skills. The government needs to stop wasting millions of dollars with holiday tv and radio campaigns cause they are of no use. If no-one can admit they need to improve their skills then they will never learn. Everyone believes they are a better driver than the person in the next lane and that they have the first "dibs" on everything on the road. I travel Sydney to Gosford twice a day, twice a week. Believe me some people have NO common sence. It does not matter if the RTA place 20 signs that say "KEEP LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING" people just dont read them OR they believe it does not apply to them. Here are the golden rules. Tailgating is OK on a freeway especialy if you do it for at least 5 kays before you pull accross like a mad person. Accelerating when someone is passing you is even better . Trying to overtake a slow car but then traveling at the same speed as them when your side by side is VERY acceptable on a freeway, all drivers realy appreciate that. Staying in the right lane is also acceptable if there is no one in the left lanes. Changing lanes very quickly and then slamming on your brakes is appreciated by all drivers behind you. Overtaking on the left side of a slower car is very safe for everyone. Driving in the middle lane of a 3 lane freeway is fine when you are traveling 30 kays BELOW the speed limit, cause we all know that the left lane is only for trucks.

And some parents don't teach their kids very well either. Travelling south on Saturday my learner daughter wanted to drive for a while but I said no sorry road too busy on freeway learner too slow like a mobile shicane. Then south near Goulburn long line of traffic I see up front semi in right lane then all of a sudden cars braking going left and right and what should be in the left lane going 70 in 110 zone you guessed it a Fuggn learner. Where are their parents brains. There is a time and place for learning and it isn't on a two lane freeway in the middle of one of the bussiest days of the year. Dckhead.

I did find out an interesting fact though... apparently a BA Falcon doing 105km/h is actually faster than a Mitsubishi Sigma doing 105km/h! Why else would the p-plate VK Commodore have ripped past my sister travelling with me in a risky overtaking move then sit behind me for 40km? I suppose he thinks a tonne of bricks is heavier than a tonne of feathers too. |

I guess you guys don't know.
Just like Sunday is a day off and no road rules apply, it is the same on public holidays. : So drive however you want everything is legal. BTW, I'm being sarcastic! The australian roads are discusting and no one cares!!

Dont worry that dosen't **** truck drivers off. (The old mans a interstate truck driver) When your overtaking a 60ft prime mover you should get past as quick as you can. Either sit behind it or get infront. How hard is it to increse your speed for a few seconds. |

The problem is these idiots are in offices 8 hrs a day 5 days a week and take the kids to soccer on the weekends. So its like a free for all when holiday time comes and they congregate on all the roads driving like idiots.
I find these holiday mums and dads worse than habibs in VL commodores |

They must still be in the c0ck melon mode
For the Brisbaneites they will know this quite well the Bruce Hwy upgrade between Narangba and Morrayfield northbound is at 80kmh because of the road works I hit the road works slow down to 80 and hit the CC because it is a prime spot for the speed vans here and I noticed about 4 cars in front was one of those new red Monaro's the QPS have and there was a 4be next to me which drops in infront of me - no biggie it happens all the time but behind me for some time on my boot lid is a Hothouse green VY SS with 5 guys in it trying to give me the hurry up , backing off then accelerating up my date lights on and weaving yelling crap at everyone to get out of there way and when the patrol moved over he was off like a shot and giving me the finger as they flew past yelling obsenities about FORD and not payng attention to what was in front and went knuckling past the Monaro : and guess what the boys in red did not like it toooo much I returned past there about 2 hours later on the way back from Morrayfield and the car was parked with no one in sight bar a lonely tow truck under the SS :hihi: :hihi: I think JUSTICE HAS PREVAILED - I LESS KNOB ROT ON THE ROAD

I recon let the looneys go for it.
This time of year if you speed, you risk, license, life and limb. I remember last Chrissy Holidays the Mrs and I were heading to Newcastle from Sydney. The Mrs was riding me all the way to stick to the speed limit. We got overtaken by a P Plate driver in a Toyota Hi-Ace, he was flyin... We saw in about 30mins later... On the side of the road and out of the car sat on the guard rail. I beleive he was calling mummy as the two wheeled Highway Patrolly was cutting up his license :hihi: There goes the job and social life...

I saw something similar on the awy back from Cessnock via Putty Rd.
There was a guy in a Lancer in such a hurry ... overtaking dangerously ... and over double white lines as well ... until he tried it on a blind corner nearly taking out a highway patrol car in the process .... t was enjoyable to watch the cop hook it around behind me (I was last car in the convoy of vehicles) and head after the idiot P-plater. But there were so many idiots out on the road ... I just set cruise and had a nice drive up north and back. What really annoyed me was people who could take corners properly (especially a young Mother with child on board) ... cutting every corner and half on the wrong side of the road on blind corners ... also slowing back to 60 from 100 to negotiate an 85km/h corner ... meaning I had a brake hard to avoid hitting her. Next save overtaking lane ... I got past her and left her behind. Talk about dangerous drivers without any country road driver training.

to many people think of their right to drive but dont take into account the fact that they must take just as much care of everybody else as they do themself.
i had the king of the road (rav4) sittin on 95k uphill so i pass him at 110 only when im travelling downhill (100k in 100k) he trys passes me at the very end of the merging lane at possibly 120-30 k only to see the cop coming the other way slams on the brakes forcing me to brake and run off the shoulder and i got pulled over police officer my lucky day lets me off with a caution (something about slowing down and unsafe driving ) meanwhile kotr gets away i would say this was the only time these holidays i havent been doing afew ks over typical of the cops to pick on someone with a niceish car wtf is this world coming to. : |

This happened over the easter break a few years ago & scared the bejeezus out of me,
I had just pulled out onto the Brand hwy in west Aust. heading south, I was driving a semi, I was about 1km away from a bend in the road & around the corner came a little s**t box car with a road train behind it looking to over take, now this guy is pulling 2 trailers of L.P.G I could see that the Trucky wanted to over take this car, as the car was going about 80km & this was the only spot for him to do it, because further up the road there was a lot of hills & no overtaking points, He was waiting for me to pass, so he could make his move, as I went past I watched in my side mirror to see how he went, the truck pulled out to over take, but when he did, the last trailer’s rear wheels touched the gravel on my side of the road,( at this point I had visions of what was going to happen next, so I planted my foot hoping to get as much distance between me & the other truck, which didn’t make any difference), the rear trailer slides on the gravel then whips back onto the road, right next to this car, then goes up onto its left hand side tires, the whole right hand side of the rear trailer was off the ground, like dukes of hazard & I thought to my self this is it, I'm going to die, the trucky realized what was going on because a big black cloud of smoke came from the stack when he put his foot into it to pull it out of this dangerous situation, he bought it back down on all wheels, & completed the over take. Now while this was happening the s**t box did not slow down, he did not move over to give the truck any room to over take, all he did was hold his line, the whole time from start to finish. When are these people going to learn that you have to give truck drivers all the help you can when your on the roads, they cant stop quickly, they cant take of fast, they cant just whip out & do a quick over take, they need room for this & as much space as you can give them. I work in the oil & gas industry so I have seen high pressure gas fires & small gas explosions, so for the people that don’t know what a L.P.G explosion will do I will give you an idea, One of these tanks with about 20ton of LPG will totally level about 5 square/km radius, 2 of them would be like a small nuclear explosion & would be heard 100km. I feel sorry for any truck driver that has to drive over the holiday period, it would be a nightmare for them. |

My Dad drives trucks for a living, and I don't envy him one bit, especially this time of year. There are some dangerous people out there and whilst there are some cowboy truckies, the majority of them are good drivers, just trying to make a living and get home safely.
On the other hand, it is good to see the motorbike cops working hard in my area. So hard, that I got pulled over yesterday to tell me my rego label expired at midnight. I guess he hadn't met his fine quota for the day and was hoping my green rego label had expired.
