Thanks GK. Helps when I did 18 years of Melb.Syd Express and was only home 3 nights a week
As for the XR spent most of the day De sludgeing it worst part is I carn't see any signs ware the water got in and am a bit reluctant to throw $250 of gaskets and oils ext at it only to find I have missed something and it goes a week later So have to work tomorrow so will have to wait a week or 2 till I finish cleaning it all then if still nothing obvious may have to get the heads and block checked

Bugger eh, for the new oil I can highly recommend Liqui Moly. I put some in mine today and there is a noticable difference.

Not good news with the engine, though if you are doing it yourself, I guess more of an inconvenience.

Oh, and you've been married 16 years and 1 day longer than me (I got married young....)!

is it possible a bolt failed/ loosened and allowed things to leak in or would there have been signs of warping had this had been the case?

Not sure there were 3 bolts on the inlet loose but heads look fine as do the gaskets got a mate checking some diagrams on the water ways on the inlet manifold side and the water pump to see if it has a plate between the block that may have failed. after spending 2 hours pulling it all apart I wont be putting it back together till I find a definite cause, that and I am off to WA in the morning then Syd. when I get back, need a day or too on the Cortina for the nats , so it will just have to wait

Put it on Visa. Gives you somewhere between 1 and 55 days to think of a good excuse/story, and at least another 30 to gain forgiveness. Remember, forgiveness is sometimes easier to gain than permission!

Come on kev, be a caring son and help him out and do it for him.

Whoosha as to get things past the Finance Controller, try that these are your fee's for letting her play on your facebook. That will at least get some response (perhaps not the one your after)

Cheers

Been busy with the Cortina Stu it was in the shed so had to finish it first so I could get the XR in it , as for the mess I have got most of the bits stripped and cleaned now will just run some cheap oil and a flush through the bottom end when its back together, could be a week or so as the Nats are on weekend after next and I am under the pump with work at the min. On the plus side the old Corty has never sounded sweeter for a little 6 pack

Three things,
1. your wife is going to rip you a new for A, resting them on the furniture, B, having them so close to the new kitchen.
2. you know you have to bring the XR out of retirement for one more run.
3. I found the centre cap.
