Is that an lp gas convertor bolted below the drivers side shock tower? Please don't flame me for asking, I don't have a thorough knowledge of the xy falcon gt, for all I know, that gadget is on all of them. But to my untrained eye, it looks very similar to an lp gas convertor.

You would think a $600K car would at least have the leads run properly.

It costs the same amount of money to make a mess as it does to do it right.

Definitely not a 600K car. But at least it still exists. Its would also be a good contender for a full restoration. I wonder what else is hiding just out of view?

That thing looks like its had a hard life and with all the strange add ons I can't see anyone paying $600k for it but who knows if the numbers still match a good restro might pay off.

What's with the alloy bars down the guard area. Are they because the bodyworks fatigued !!!!!! Will certainly require a real good look before parting with dollars as whilst the numbers may match who knows what's inside the engine and are the miles genuine etc.

Thanks for those additional pictures. A detailed photo of the compliance plate would be nice to see. The scratches that appear on the serial number stamped on the passenger shocker tower don't install confidence.

With the bonnet open it is a total POS, suggest they oxy the bonnet closed and stop insulting Ford fans.

In over 30 years of delving into and playing with XW's and XY's I'll say the engine bay is the worst of the worst.

Oh My F'ing God !

Just need to pull the junk out of the engine bay and give it a good clean, I would not restore it.

It tells a story, it was a car used for a purpose, no point hiding it with a shiny paint job, plenty of dudes doing that. Keep it unique.

You could tidy that engine bay to a respectable level in one week end.

No, from my memory it's part of the PBR vacuum trailer brake set-up. These things were so over-complicated, but before electric trailer brakes, that's all there was.

It feels to me sometimes that prices paid for high end GTs or Monaros or Chargers is a big dick competition.

In a practical sense I would want a car I can use, not one laid up for 35 years.
Totally agree. Sure its rare but it dont man its any good. Can buy a McLaren 650 for less, destroy this car every which way

https://carsales.mobi/cars/details/M...AG-AD-14380115 just laughable isnt it that someone would pay similar money for a rattly old ford

Even a clean fg xr6 is functionally a better car in every way than the old GT

I don't really think the purchaser of the phase 111 is worried about whether it will be destroyed by a 2014 Mclaren ( which going by the figures quoted has dropped $250,000 in three years) or walk away from it and buy an FG XR6 because it ihas better functionality. The phase 111 has stood for over 40 years as the most sort after muscle car Australia has produced and the fact that these ratty old Fords are bringing the money they still are today is testament to this. Each to their own of course.

I like the Grover air horn sticking through the radiator support panel.

Still would prefer a tatty ol classic to modern plastic.

Anyone have any idea what that tap type arrangement is on the LH head.

First I assumed it was a fuel/water separator but it appears to be threaded into the LH head with a glass bowl underneath so water only but why ?

https://www.flickr.com/photos/159068...posted-public/

I would assume it will also get a battery at sometime so prospective buyers can ascertain if the engine actually runs and that air horn works

I cant see any win for the buyer.. pay $500k for old rattly ford GT.. likely will not reach this price again as you just beat all interested parties to buy it.

If you dont drive it well how can it be enjoyed.

If you do drive it well basically kiss goodbye its value.

If you hold onto it, do you think the next generation will appreciate it and pay good coin for it??.. the current buyers are also the last set of buyers. (They are aged)

This auction is a classic "dont be holding the bag" when the music stops

People like to collect stuff.
My late father left me his lifetimes work of stamp collecting. Some of those stamps have eye watering values in the tens of thousands each. Yet they are a tiny piece of paper and a bit of ink.

It's the rarity and the chase that gives them value. Common sense doesn't come into it.

Look at that 15 million dollar Ferrari, it would probably get beaten by an fg xt.

Whilst I wouldn't consider this example at all, you either get why people buy them, or you don't.
Its not about the investment, its about owning one.

When I first joined this forum I had similar beliefs to you and made an **** of myself trying to discredit people's reasoning behind wanting them, then I took off my blinkers and realised that to some people this is what being a car enthusiast is all about and as a Ford enthusiast, well, they speak for themselves, there is nothing better, unless your lucky enough to own the P4 and there's even pro's and con's with that comparison too.
