It will be interesting to see how ford spec's it in the interest of long term durability. 380kw would surely have serious impacts on required maintenance and replacement intervals.

No matter how good it is, it won't be a race car thinly veiled as a road car. In this day and age its never going to happen. Thats why I don't think they should bring out the nameplate.
If by some miracle, they bring out a club racer version of a GT that can blow other club racer type cars into the weeds, sure call it GTHO until the cows come home. But The GTHO name plate has a lot of folklaw to live up to, I'd hate to see them muff it. This new five litre donk has lots of promise though. potentially this motor could see its way into competition (read V8 super-cars) then having that race link would make the case for a GTHO nameplate all that more compelling. |

You'd be pretty stupid to compare them both. Comparing factory with aftermarket is illogical and irrelevant, especially in terms of price and power. The fact is that FPV are releasing a Supercharged GT and HSV doesn't have a competing supercharged vehicle.
Why can't we just have everybody give some positive feedback for Ford/FPV for once? They are doing something most of us Ford fans have been dreaming of since the GT badge was resurrected, a supercharged GT worthy of the badge. Instead we get "HSV has a 470kw supercharged Clubsport for under 100k" (which THEY don't) as though it won't satisfy you unless it matches those power and price figures which is ludicrous. I'll bet even the boys on the LS1 forums are saying more positive things about the possibility of a supercharged GT than here. There is way too much negativity in this place lately.

Regardling the F6, I don't think it will be made redundant at all, but I do think it may lose some sales to the blown GT. Colville

Well said, the Supercharged version is not even confirmed but already has some showing their obvious discomfort at having some competition, and they are from the same camp. : |

It will be a matter of time, when Holden will borrow the Corvette 6.2 supercharged 8.
It is a great thing for any buyer/lover of the V8 indeed. If both camps have a blown version that puts out a genuine massive number (around the 500+ mark) there will be beers all round and even if ford isnt on top (in terms of a couple of numbers), we can still safely say that it might be a vehicle that stock will rock. Long live the Bent 8!

Your f6 isnt redundant at all and this build hasnt been confirmed yet but if it does get built I would expect that the f6 will get improvements aswell and mate, your f6 looks fabulous myself very jealous, and fuel prices might be where ford makes there profit from turbo 6 to v8.
I prefer the f6 to the gt's in my opinion. ...but I can't wait to see what figures this car can do...

Well, as far as unused TM's go, they could use either FPV GS (TM'ed same time as ECOBOOST) or GT-H (TM'ed same time as FORD KUGA)...

A properly sorted blown set-up will be great. The installation in the latest Vette is very clever indeed, the way the charge is cooled etc. and if Ford can do something similar here that will be just brilliant.
I recently had the Ford GT Supercar to play which of course has a blower, actually right behind your ear and you can actually see it in the rear view mirror as you drive and tilt when you give it welly etc. lol. You can even see the blower belt etc. while in the car. It still doesn't seem as smart as the set-up in the latest ZR-1 Vette however, something like that in a homegrown Ford will be wicked. Let's hope they don't cut too many corners.

I think too many people are expecting the results we see from the Kenne Belle and Yella terra aftermarket kits and the aftermarket tune results we have seen from members and TUNING shops on this FORUM and elsewhere.
In reality , anything that is Factory fitted from FORD / FPV will need to meet stringent EPA / ADR and Warranty requirements. I wouldn't be expecting anything too much.........I reckon it may even be a baby HARROP set up to give the BOSS some extra low down urge. FPV won't go overboard and enter into a badge war with HSV......They probably won't even breach the 320KW mark..........( It will be more about the hidden power......TORQUE ) |

That will suit me fine. To be honest all this 400 rear wheel kilowatt at the tyres stuff borders on being completely pointless. Unless you have shares in a tyre company of course...
This will hopefully however allow Ford to get something like 320kw at the tyres and put an engine with some real bottom end urge in their V8 range so they have a V8 that can actually hold a candle to the F6 when it comes to real world driving performance.

besides the obvious power, hopefully the handling is a another step ahead.I have not driven a FG GT ,but my BF2 GT is a bit of a disappointment compared to how my TE50 handled. The BF is a good cruiser but the TE was a sharper tool out of the box.
With the alloy block ,taking some weight out of the front would help.

now we v8 owners can go to the tune shop and pick up 50rwkw with tune only... this wont make the f6 redundant but will leave no reason to buy the f6.
I just hope its mass produced and not a limited number or special $100000 deal. In other words i hope its under $80000 new. |

You are right, it it is as smooth as punchy down low as the F6 and as fuel efficient then the market for the F6 will be killed pretty much stone dead. The current market for the F6 grew out of people not happy with the performance of the 8, so if the stock blower install does that reliably then yes the F6 may as well be discontinued. And the XR6T engine would then be best used in cheaper larger volume cars.
