Agree with msnealo, you buy the opt wheels but you don't take home the stock ones.
Also agree with Candyman go aftermarket. You would be better off aftermarket with a huge range to select from plus something that would suit and maybe stand out. Aftermarket would be my pick. |

They can't keep the stock ones if they charge you that much for the optional ones. That would be a rip off.

Guys just to clarify, the 17's are a Dealer fitted Genuine Ford Accessory. They are not available from factory, hence why they're a price + tyres.
The benefit is this gives you choice of tyres. There's absolutely no way in hell you should not also receive your factory 16's. The 17's are an additional option, not a trade in. Ford spare parts don't take the 16's back, as they're no longer brand new once fitted to the car and hence can't be sold as a new part. If the Dealer takes them, tell them they can't. You own them when you buy the base car unless they offer you something for them. you may perhaps be able to negotiate a bigger discount in exchange for the 16" rims and tyres - same as them giving you money for them. The best you can do is get the Dealer to maybe give you credit for the 16's, then they could fit them to a CL or something, but most likely you can just pay for your 17's and keep the 16's for a rainy day if you could be bothered - or sell them separately.

Man, we got lied to then
Dealer said we didn't get the old wheels. We were told they were swapped before delivery and were additional cost (+ tyres and the steering limiter) : If you so get the 16's, that helps with the price - sell them to the CL owners |

[QUOTE=Black_Betty] You would be better off aftermarket with a huge range to select from plus something that would suit and maybe stand out. [QUOTE]
If the stud pattern is the same as the WQ there is not a huge range to choose from, the stud pattern is 4 in 108, which is a very uncommon pattern and hard to find. Trust me i kno, it took many days of hunting to find something decent with the correct stud size. Be careful as well, because some places may just tell you they fit, and grind the holes out, and to be honest, i didnt really want the part of the car that keeps me on the road bodgied up.

Just dropped in to my local Bridgestone shop to get a quote on the RE001's
205/40r17 $260 each I've heard great things about this tyre. The guy said I should buy the rims from Ford then come to him to get the tyres/rims fitted. But what should I do with the 16's and tyres?!

We have RE001's on our GTI
Good in the dry, average in the wet. Hard to compare to the Hankooks on our Fiesta (dfft size and width, dfft car etc) but I'd rate the noise about the same and overall grip better with the Hankooks in the wet etc. Make sure you use an NRMA roadside assistance card number - should give you another 5% discount (what we did). Anyones number will do. The GTI tyres are wider but we only paid $220 each so drive the dealer hard As has been said - just sell the 16's to a CL owner. |

Yeah cheers Candy.
Another option would be to just accept what they have to offer with the 17's at the dealer (i think they said their contractor is wheelking) and get them to give me a credit for the 16's with the tyres which they can keep.

Sent an email today to the Dealer where my Zetec is coming from regarding the wheels. She told me that they will be giving me the 16" wheels that come with the car as I paid the full price for the 17" upgrade.
She further went on to say in some circumstances people negotiate an "upgrade" price where they don't get the 16"ers rather than own 2 sets of wheels. |

I was getting the 17's based on the $1600 odd price on the Ford website but the leasing company said that's a bit misleading as it doesn't include tyres and the full cost is around $2500. |

Was rolled up into the price we got so didn't know how much it was. Gotta say, you would have to love the stock 17's as they are charging way too much. |

I've ordered for the wife a nice panther black Zetec with the optional 17" so I'm hoping it looks hot. The dealer offered a $1800 change over price (for the standard wheels/tyres) which included tyres and the steering rack limiter.

Thanks guys. I actually ordered the Vision colour first which I still think looks great by the way. A few weeks ago however I was at the dealer and they were delivering a panther black Zetec to a customer with the nice 16" wheels. It really stopped me in my tracks as it was quite stunning. The black really suited the shape of the car and I am hoping the larger 17" will really set it off. Black also comes with the coloured interior which I know my wife was very keen on. It will be a pain to keep clean but it's only a little car to wash

I have the 3dr CL in Panther Black and just put some 17"s on it. Can't notice any real difference in ride quality although I've only done about 1200km - 600km on each. No steering rack limiter and no scrubbing. Maybe if you applied full lock and dumped it but I haven't tried.
FYI they are Speedy Fusion in 'wet silver' with 205/40 Toyo Proxes 4 tyres. $1300 all up. Could have paid $1100 with cheaper Neuton tyres but I heard they are rubbish. I traded my 15" steelies and tyres and ended up paying $1100 anyway. The Toyos are great so far. I'm no expert but I think they have excellent grip and low noise. The W tread pattern looks good too. I've attached a few photos. They look better in the metal - even better reflected in shop windows... Finally, to anyone interested they have kept the stupid 4x108 stud pattern so choices are limited. The only others I found are the Osakas, Advanti Medusa, and the CSA Nos (16" only).

They actually look pretty good! So the fusions are the right offset yeah?
I wonder what they would like on a Zetec Vision 5-door with the extra chrome bits. Any chance of some closer pics of the rims? cheers
