I had "GT 54 GT" on my BA GT and also "TRBO 6" on my BA XR6 turbo. Never did try and sell them though, just handed them back to the RTA. Doubt I would have got much for them anyway. There was a time when people were paying stupid money for plates, but I think that period of lunacy is over.

There is a Merc around Melbourne parked down the side streets, near where I used to work, that had the number plate 1.

It's a tad pathetic, but I actually keep a camera in my taxi and take photos of things like this. My collection of licence plate photos.

In Queensland, the number plate "FORD I6" is surprisingly still available. Someone might want to snap that one up!

I can't believe no one has brought up that A Current Affair segment last night about Garry Rodgers (the V8 team owner) and his fight to keep his number plate which said "HOON".

There was a woman many years back (late 1980's) in the USA...New York I believe...who racked up a simply staggering total of unpaid parking fines, all because of her licence plate.
She ran a "temping" agency...temporary secretarial workers...and her licence plate simply said "TEMP", the term by which these workers are generally called..."Temps". The problem was that when a policeman or traffic officer could not find a plate or a car had thier version of a dealer plate on it (a "temporary plate"), they would write down "Temp" in the space on the ticket for "registration number". So once the fines mounted up to a big enough amount, the bailiffs came calling... |

I drove past one of those new import vans going around in Parramatta. Big 10 seater or something full of young Indian dudes. They looked like funny characters the way they were carrying on. Then I saw the number plates and though now that cool! Gold on black, "Curies".
I love it, same methodology as the Wogboy movie. Pure awesomeness!

I remember when the Queensland plates went from letters first to numbers first, and they chose the changeover for the OOO-000 plate. It went to a "random draw" as to who ended up with it, and whatdyaknow, it went to a government minister...how lucky! |
