Try getting an online quote for yourself at either www.ing.com.au or www.cgu.com.au - they were nearly half the price of our old insurance company for the wife's new Mazda 6 ($31 a month for comprehensive!) and have a better policy for our needs.

theostheone the only way Ford Australia is going to release the fiesta ST is if there is public interest in the car what we are doing is spreading the word about this car and getting people interested.

With the massive amount of traffic this forum generates I can easily see people on the forums to research the fiesta finding this thread and going "Hey, this (Fiesta ST) sounds like a good car pitty they don't sell them in OZ" and mentioning something to the dealer and his/her mates.

Rather not say

As for the ST - I think it would help if they knew Fiesta owners want something more. However, 14 people aren't going to make it happen. It needs to be competitively priced, and marketing (not a forte with Ford!) needs to work well to release it too

Perhaps, but look at the waiting list for the Focus XR5 with very little marketing. The beauty of these Ford hatchbacks is that their reputation precedes them. Without the choice of a Fiesta ST my next car, should I buy new, would be an XR5, the new Clio should it be out by then or maybe a Citroen C4 VTS for something a little different. Unless Fiat bring out an Abarth Punto....

True - But I can't help but think the XR4 wouldn't be an AS GOOD product as the XR5T. Like, the XR5T undercuts competitors price wise, yet does a much better job on the road performance wise. The XR4 might be cheaper then others.... but it would need to also perform really well to get anyone into them.

New Clio - From Reviews I have read, it is '...more grown-up attitude than previous incarnations.' (Top Gear, 2006). It is heavier, and many aren't liking the steering. Apparently, and 'something has gone missing. At the end of a hard drive, you step out feeling full of admiration but curiously untouched by adrenalin. In the 182, you wouldn’t get out until the tank ran dry.' (Autocar, 2006)

C4 VTS - Helllllllllllll no. Been in one. Nothing too flash or interesting there.

Oh, just to add - the Fiesta would need to be cheaper then the Polo GTI, and offer better BFYB.

Looks ok for a Bambino remake although I'd rather an original or maybe a 131 Coupe. Don't get me started on Fiats!

Bambino's are getting very rare now. I would love on as a side project.

I saw one last weekend fully restored and not unlike the one pictured although not an Abarth. I've got my eyes on a 1969 124 Sport at the moment for a project actually.

From what ive read the new clio has got more power and a six speed gearbox but is also 150kg heavier. So in a straight line it is as quick as the old one but through corners is where it loses out. So Steven it looks like you got the good one (y).

I got called by Ford today about the letter I sent and basically the guy (Customer service rep) wouldn't give me any info about fords intentions with the car but thanked me for the input and said he would pass it onto marketing.

Speaking of Fiat if I recall they are planning to release cars in 2008 if the exchange rates stay favourable for them so we just might see the 500 things coming. I must admit I have a soft spot for Fiat's simply because I learnt how to drive on a Polski Fiats 650 (with a massive 22hp engine) that is current being kept in mint condition by my grandad (got a rebuilt engine last year) would be nice to see some new ones

Yep - what do you think I am... an idiot? I did my research before getting the Clio! The new RSC 197 also has a much nicer interior and seat design. The rear looks hot, but the front is a slight let down. Not only that, but standard features are also down... with most becoming options now. Oh, and the price is obviously higher!

Good to hear! What was the persons name that called you?

marcosambrose - I've wanted the RenaultSport Clio long before Renault won the world championship

photn - Read the letter I wrote and you would understand. I had a 2004 Fiesta Zetec for 1.5 years
