Had and FGX XR8 and have an FN mustang.

Hands down the Mustang is better in every way. Superior tech, better handling, puts power down better, sounds much much better, and looks better too.

Always thought my Xr8 was a keeper, but getting into it after driving the mustang was just........depressing. It did nothing better.

I'm super surprised by these reviews mustang v FPV. Are these V8 variants only?
Did anyone have F6/X6 Sprint and still preferred the mustang?

It depends on application.

I don't care much for drag racing and hated the mapping of the standard Sprint 6. It wasn't fun on the road and at the track, the Auto wasn't responsive enough and didn't rev match (which you can over come a little by hitting the accelerator as you shift; kinda heel-toe for auto). It should've had a more relaxed mapping in D and more aggressive in S; as it stands, there is not much difference between each setting. The auto Mustang with its paddles was awesome at the track till it cooked itself. The Sprint didn't go into limp mode but blew a turbo hose!

If the Sprint 6 was a manual, I reckon I'd have loved it. As an auto, I prefer the FM Mustang over it everyday!

Interesting. I think the Barra T and RS, in my eyes anyways, is the most exciting recent ford/FPV development. But ive not had the luxury of experiencing the Mustang yet but these reviews are telling me i need to soon.

I loved my manual F6 and if it wasn't for not having enough seats it would've stayed. Had the opportunity for exact sedan (same series and colour) replacement although ZF but the car yard (in regional SA too!) wanted another 5k plus my Tornado. My stubborness got in the way of me being potentially happier in the long run.

Horse's for course's - pun, its all what you prefer in the end better or not.
I driven countless FPV8's and 6's, from stock to mega mad modded.
Modded ones for me are just too OTT so I'll put down my feelings showroom wise.
Sprint8 manual I have, I not care about tech as some have mentioned its behind the times, yep it is but I don't buy this car for the tech nor would anyone.
We know Oz Fords restraints even back from when BSeries started.
No Boss motor excited me - Miami hands down is the ducks guts, IF only these Falcons had a decent rear end and get the power down would be wow even to this day.
Someone mentioned about its handling is no where to Mustang, well 2doors vs 4door and suspensions are far better in the pony especially last model with the 10speed box BUT I'm no Allan Moffat BUT I smile every single time I sit in my Sprint and drive it, spiritedly it does the job at my levels, also can scare the crap out of you as well, this is the thrill of it all, I don't care about it behaving brilliantly but it handles damn fine for me.
Besides its a Falcon, it is very dear to me incl my T3, they going no where but to my kids when I'm gone.
Tested quite a few Ponys, as much as the 10speed is the ducks guts whilst I can still get manuals thats my choice.
As I said tech is not my main box tick but I can't deny they have done a good job in general on the car, I drove a auto FM for quite a while, whilst it did go well and all it just hasn't pulled me in.
I don't know what it is but one thing about Mustang, I don't agree as Grom quoted the GT as is a high spec version, to me high spec version is Shelbys ala FPV, were not going to get them, RSpec I have NO interest not being a OE US Factory purchase BUT the Mach1 I will have interest in BUT the platform will be getting on by the time it arrives here so we shall see what beholds.
Mercury T re the sounds, sorry I'm with kypez and some others, Pony sounds far better than Miami's, in stock form Miami's lack everything that muscle represents, you only get barks/snack crackle and pop when at mid range up - at times its as quiet as a mouse, my old T3 wheezer sounds heaps better.
Pony sounds good, far better than Miami hands down.
I have to open mine up but I still won't be happy sound wise, its a weird sound, not deep throaty as I'd prefer BUT damn that motor PULLS all the way - then its sounds tuff lol.....
I could have jumped into a Pony the other week, infact found a goody that ticked some boxs for it was lightly modded for I needed to replace a daily, opted against it go figure.
Went euro.

2018+ Mustang GT's sound epic with the exhaust in race mode. A million miles better than any FPV in terms of exhaust noise.

My engine builder/mechanic from my home town actually bought a Bullit Mustang. Great guy, little kid stuck in the body of a 70yo. Missed his call recently when he come by to pick me up for a spin.

Bullitt sounds even better than the standard Mustang GT. You won't really notice any power difference though (I have owned both). The Bullitt is a nice car.

I had an auto mkII FG vixen GTP with all the KPM stuff and it was aamazing. Sounded butal with the KPM header back and was out of control to drive. I would have kept that if it werent so unreliable as a daily, all the mods caused things to break too often. All that said I still fawn for it and sometimes think I should have kept it.
I sold it and I bought a demo manual Mustang and put a borla sport exhaust on it which made a huge difference. I would say it definately feels underpowered to me down low but feels better when youre up an boogying a bit more.
it more than makes up for it in terms of comfort and ergonomics, tech etc. I never aspired for a mustang and still dont get excited by it that much but there was nothing else suitable on the market,...still isnt now.
Interestingly Ive had GT's old school and new, and still do but for some reason the mustang gets the most gawkers and thumbs up, even though theyre everywhere. puzzling

Right now if I could Id swap my mustang for my old GTP.

Clearly I'm wrong on sound then as others said too. No probs.

If I had one it would be in this Race Mode thingy all the time then!

For me the driving position is not as good in the Falcon. Call it ergonomics or whatever.
Taking nothing else into consideration, you are better dialed into the Mustang and feel more connected to the car from a driving sense.
I still like both however and recommend anyone who can, to own both.

I think sometimes in Falcons can feel sitting "on top of them" rather than in them. My old but much loved BA was ok but still not really saddled in, a rental FG XR I definitely felt higher and car underneath me (yes I adjusted the seat!)

Might just be the lower ride height of Stangs and interior, not sure. My current car wagon feels far lower than my BA but it isn't.

FWIW I think the FPVs will be worth more than Mustangs in 5 years time. Not that it's the reason you buy in most instances as I like seeing Ford's and other top cars being used!

Ive had 300kw , it does hookup good but just not neck snapping excitement. The feeling of being pinned to the seat in 4th. Thats where its at.

But a quick bolt on 2900 blower to the mustang and it would be killa.

Shame i already have to many toys.

I hope being pinned in 4th is on a racetrack.........

I've never done a track day - I sort I wish I had in BA just once but not sure on Insurance etc. Would be awesome, so long as not my car as I couldn't afford to cook and replace all the parts!

I’d let the Mustang go if I had to choose (and if I owned one) because I can always buy another back. Not so my manual 335 GT.

I agree, I’m actually thinking of putting a blower on mine , but the N/A power is just so usable, my fpv 375rwkw always felt like it wanted to kill you , and had to drive it with a lot of respect. The mustang is predictable and you an use all of its power which makes it fast even though it has less power. If I had access to e85 locally I would go headers, exhaust , intake and Lund e85 tune, will give you around 500rwhp and high 10’s in the quarter

Still think we should have got the GT350R.

Something about it just really works for me, raw and cool. Doesn't need add on etc imo.

Compliance no doubt a problem and then selling (or not selling) at ridiculous amounts new. (Camaro)

I'd have bought a 350R in a heartbeat. Awesome car.

But still wouldn't let go of the Falcon.

Have you seen the '11 GTE in Tas at 37k? I think its well priced. Been up for sale for a long time and I think has under 90,000kms. SC Miami in a luxury based FPV. Hard not to pass up if youre in the market for V8 FPV.

Have been considering either an FPV or mustang for awhile now. I have always loved manuals but due to an injury my left leg isnt what it used to be. Still hopeful I may get full use of it again but might need to look into an auto next.

As an aspirant to both, I'll say this.

For many of us, the Falcon and by extension it's performance variants, hold a very special place in our hearts. And there's certainly enough of "us" to ensure the demand for those cars keeps the price high.
And to be honest, I think that for cars developed on a shoestring, and built in almost boutique numbers in an antiquated factory, I think FoA and FPV did a bang-up job.
