I'd have a 330ci in a flash. Hands up, all you clowns bagging them, who has actually driven one? Was it the manual? Did you get to drive it in varying conditions including a twisty mountain pass? .... Didn't think so...
Now where were we... oh that's right, "all other cars than Ford are crap etc. etc. dribble blah"...

My sisters husband had the 850ci (V12 engine) and although it could reach high speeds and feel stable on the road, it didn't accelarate as fast as you would expect. (They have both switched to Mercs, SLK320 and S320) An early 2000 model M3 runs those times and it has a 250+kw 3.2ltr engine, not a 170kw 3.0ltr engine and it costs more then twice as much as a 330, so you would hope it performad better then a 330 especially as the M3 is the performance flagship of the 3 series. I don't think anyone is saying that anything other then a ford is crap. If I had the money I would love an AMG E55.

The BMW E46 M3 Convertible, however, with the same engine, but weighs 1720kg.. does 0-100km/h in 5.93 sec and the 1/4 in 14.17. The E46 BMW 330Ci Coupe, with 3.0litre inline-six, 170kW @ 5900rpm and 300Nm @ 3500rpm, weight is 1490kg.. does 0-100km/h in 6.64 sec and the 1/4 mile in 14.77 sec. The 330i Sedan, same engine, but weighs 1520kg.. does 0-100km/h in 7.32 sec and the 1/4 mile in 15.29 sec. Considering that a Falcon XT 6cyl sedan does 7.23 0-100 and 15.28 1/4.. with 12kW more power, 80Nm more torque and 152kg more weight then the 330i.. I'd say thats pretty good.. especially since the 330i is pushing 8.94kg per kW and the Falcon is pushing 9.18kg per kW. |

OK.
So this one is the E46. I was thinking about this one. An engine pic here. I can't keep track of the E numbers, so confusing. Looking back at the first post, it is the current model, not the older one. So I guess the new ones are alot faster then the previous model that I was thinking about. My bad sorry

That's an E36. They came as 3.0 and 3.2.. and were never 252kW like the current one.
The 3.2 litre version of the E36 M3 came with 179kW @ 6000rpm and 320Nm @ 3800rpm... did 0-100km/h in 5.5, and the 1/4 in 14.2 as you said. It weighed 1432kg. |

I may be wrong but I think this 15.3 time is a bit dodgy to be honest.

Maybe we should just ask Pearly LOL. But I've been to every heathcote meet, and Pearly only rented an XT once, the silver one, and the best time of that day was 15.8 i am positive.

Any way I really never had a liking for the old bmw 330ci coupe until my brother bought one outright last year.Yes I dragged him on a private road when my car was dev 1 spec with shift kit.Form 0-100 kmph I matched it.Once it hit 100 kpmph that thing just left me for dead!!!So there bulk power comes on really strong at 100 kmph and up.Not to say they are sluggish below this either.
