Hmmm, a couple of questions. Are curtain airbags going to be specced on the aussie version ?, does the stability control system incorporate traction control ?, is it able to be switched off ?.Otherwise where do I sign ?. :

Yeah side curtains should be in the aussie spec, I think the stability control is incorporated with the traction control and it can be switched off. (Matt correct me if I'm wrong here).

Correct on both counts, curtain and side airbags standard, Stability Control includes Traction Control.

I'm just home finally after a long weekend of driving, did 1,000km, loved EVERY SINGLE SECOND.

Will have more pics through the week as they're edited and as I get the pics from Adam's camera! They're mighty big pics, 7 megapixel camera!!!)

Thanks again mate, love the photos (even though I took them!!!)

What a car.

Hmm, time for me to be a damper on the hype here I think! :

Sounds like the XR5 is a bloody good car, and I cant wait to get behind the wheel of one, i really cant. But at the same time, I reckon come 6 months down the track they will be everywhere, just like BA XR6's are now. And to be honest, for that reason Im glad I wont have one - at least not for a few years anyway. I love my LR, sure it annoys me sometimes and I havent even seen the bloody thing for over a week(!), but I like it cos it stands out. And thats probably why I'll stick with it for a bit longer.

(But i still wanna go for a drive in a 5!)

Zetec (Matt) works for Ford. It is a pre-production evaluation vehicle i guess... considering it is still ST spec...

One lucky fella. Now Matt... where is the ST150? (XR4)

I spoke to the FPV Sales Rep at my local dealer and he showed me a pre-release info brochure and I when looked at the specifications I noticed one omission. There's no Semi-Automatic transmission available. Nowadays this type of transmission is becoming commonplacer. I'd have thought that if it were manufactured with one, Ford would have at least included it as an option.

Nope, sorry Eddie, no semi Auto. VW are the only ones, it's hardly commonplace yet on this type of vehicle unfortunately. Would definitely be worth considering though.

Thanks, zetec, for whetting the appetite. Have to say that the Performance Blue looks better than I thought it would.

Great Ocean Road in an XR5T - sigh - one day your grandchildren will be able to recite that story.

I note the tow-bar - perhaps visions of a hitched 5-berth Millard in mind?

Towbar is fitted as part of the testing/evaluation. It's an engineering vehicle, maybe they've been trying to use it to pull chicks...literally? Those German Engineers, I tell you. First they make the German Engineering sexier with the Fiesta... now this e

Gotta say it looks like an awesome car. I've been eyeing them off since around last March (whenever it was announced @ Geneva).

The review on Top Gear mentioned that it had adjustable steering - you could make it light, medium or heavy. Do the australian models have that option? Zetec - did the ST you drove (drive? driven?) have this option and if so - is it "just one more thing that can go wrong"? I would have thought that a driver would set the steering weight once and then forget it.

I left it on Sport and forgot about it.Probably a preference thing really. Didn't even try it on comfort or regular, but it was nicely weighted on sport, I like firm steering. Probably much better in the city on comfort and honestly I can see it being a useful feature if one spends a lot of time in the city.

Looks like the guys over there are having "Edits" done already....
The original poster reckons he got another 31bhp at the flywheel.....

FFOC.CO.UK

Looks like the "Weekend Toy" will become even more so, a "Weekend Rocketship"
Maybe the ECU Reprogrammers are in the job of testing the DSC to see if a Small FWD Hatch can handle 300bhp!

I'm still high... however having priced up the novated lease I'm now deciding... Probably not going to get one becasue I need to save money and have a few things on my list that I feel are more important... I'd give anything to have one, just not before some of the mkore important things in life like travelling whilst young and having more than $0.60 in the bank account. I get a company car in less that 2 years and my car is still perfectly good and not costing me much.

Besides, I'll try and get one every now and then if possible. That should help the pain a little.

So does that mean that pricing has been released for it?
Or just to you because you work for Ford?
