Stupid as it may sound, the BMW X5 V8 would rate a mention.

Every Porsche 6 sounds bloody terrible!

My vote goes to the M3 CSL. I heard one during the 2004 Classic Adelaide in the hills, just magic. The ultimate noise would have to be any blown AMG Mercedes, as Jeremy Clarkson put it "It sounds like the God of thunder gargling nails."

Going by the rules of the thread, Honda 4cyls put a chill down my spine as they rev to about 7500 - 8000rpm. From the early non vtec 1.6 to the latest ИИИИ. Just awesome IMO, I'd never admit that around one of their typical vtec loving drivers tho :the_finge

Otherwise BMW 6 cyls, even the ones from the '70s are hard to beat, aswell as the Porsche F6, the Porsche needs some revs on board to sound good tho.

Have to agree with you there about VTEC engines. I remember this Civic going past me a while ago. Sounded really good

It seems that the M3 is a popular choice, and I would have to agree. They rock.

I think they just chose to ignore it.

I will also vote M3 CSL, the sound is perfect.

Non V8? I went for a rip in an M3 the other night and that has to be one sweet sounding engine under full throttle. If V8's are allowed, then I would say that the Ferrari 355 or F360 are the most wicked sounding cars on the planet.

Ok people, If you have not heard a Pagani Zonda ever in your life, well you must download video clip of it. Top Gear have a number of videos of this car. I would post one, but they are way tooo big. But it sounds so awsome on a clip, I would love to hear it next to me, while I'm giving it the caning of its life.
