Him: What has this car had done to it exactly? Me: I'm not sure Him: I don't think that air cleaner is legal....Well your car is too LOUD so Im going to defect it and you are going to have to go to the EPA and I am betting it won't pass. Me: I got the exhaust from that shop over there (points) and they didnt tell me it was going to be loud, actually I can't hear in inside because I have sound insulation inder the carpet and inside the doors, is it really THAT loud? Him: yes its loud Me:Can I just go home I only live 200m up the road there on the left. Its my mum's car. Him: Ok, you can go this time....I used to sell these cars when they were new. Look at my name badge do you recognise the name? Do you know the name of the previous Ford dealership up the road? ....blah blah blah. I got away with it, now Im bragging about it. I wonder if any cops will read this and care? Or will the EPA man come out with his little noise-a-meter? I have a license. |

I wonder if they talk like that in real life? If so, it seems that these young ricers have about as much collective intelligence as an eggplant. And I don't like eggplant.

About 6 years ago i got pulled over for running an orange light, going too fast around a corner, and 1 p plate had fallen down on the parcel shelf. Was told i may be recieving something in the mail in regards to the incident. That was in march. In november on the morning of my birthday a copper strolled into my front yard with a dirty smirk on his face and handed me a summons to go to court for all 3 offences. All things i could have been fined on the spot for, but i was put through the ringer. Took full responsibility for my actions and copped it on the chin. But it cost me over $1k for my lawyer, $650 in fines $350 in court costs, and 6 points. I've also had an officer clock me on radar at 125kmh on the anglesea rd late one night. Saw him, knew he'd clocked me and figured he couldnt book me twice for the same speed so i left the cruise on and just sat tight waiting for him to pull me over. Followed me for about 15km before he pulled me over coming into geelong. Asked for my licence which i didnt have on me. Told me i was up for $2xx and 3 point for the speed, and $50 for not having my licence on me (on p's at the time) He recognised me from a servo i worked in when i was at school in torquay where the police fuel up. Said he was in a hurry and he'd put something in the mail. 2 days later i got a letter in the mail from the surfcoast TMU - a fine for $50 for not having my licence. You win some, you lose some hey. More likely than not you have gotten away with it |

It seems strange that the guy was busted for claiming something on the net. Don’t they actually have to prove that you did, or witness you doing, something illegal before they could charge you with it? Say the guy had’ve meekly gone home after getting the warning but still mouthed off on a forum about ignoring the warning and “rocking all night at Chasers” – how do the cops prove what you did? I could claim to have performed a criminal act but unless it is proven/witnessed how can you be charged on hearsay?
Now who wants to post the highest speed they have done on public roads (don’t worry I’m sure the cops can’t look at every post)?

How is it different to using a rave or techno forum to establish where drugs may be at a certain time?

Who gives a ..., the guys an idiot, no license, bald tyres etc.
How would you be driving along in your pride and joy when shirt for brains comes drifting down the road and cleans you up, reckon his insurance will cover him, no way, and you lose your no claim and your premiums go up. Besides it's a rice burner. |

And I second what EA2BA said. The coppers up here (Guilford/Middle Swan/Midland for the locals) know my car, and have had nothing but good vibes with them despite my borderline ride height, bordline illegal neons and other miscellaeneous items. It really does pay to just respect their job and duties. As the saying goes, scratch my back and i'll scratch yours, do unto others as you would want done unto you e.t.c. It's all very good advice |

Well its really simple do the 'crime' pay the fine,
though i really dont go for revenue raising like cameras 200m apart etc, the cops may hassle some drivers cos they get hassled by drivers and anyway its their job to keep the roads safe, eg put the ricers back on the go cart circut where they came from |

As for the moron who posted what he'd done on the Sivia forums, why didn't he just say he'd made up what he posted just to sound cool. It would then have been up to the cops to prove what he said he did, and they couldn't have been able to do that since they didn't catch him doing it. You can't be proven guilty for something the police think you did but have no evidence to prove can you? Muppet of the week. |
