Right hand at 2 oclock with elbow just resting on window for the drive into work...
Except when smoking - left hand at about 8 oclock, using both when turning etc. For a bit of spirited driving, left hand @ 9, right @ 3

Right hand at 3 o'clock.
Left hand applying make up, using phone, looking for smokes, rummaging through handbag/centre console/glove box or changing songs on the Mp3 player. : Depends on the road conditions really, usually the above with left arm on the console. If it's wet and windy, or at higher speeds both hands on the wheel, with The Maddestman looking for anything he can grab a hold of. :hihi:

As for me, well I do the whole 10-2 or 9-3 thing, but mostly the left hand is on the gearshift because in this local area my car rarely makes it to 5th. When I'm crusing in the EA, it's easy peasy being an auto so I just sit there, looking gorgeous, windswept and interesting. Well SOMEBODY has to.

Right elbow on window sill (after a few years my EL had permanent "elbow crater"on the door trim BA is getting there) right hand at 2-3 oclock.
left hand between her thighs... i mean on shifter or console. have accidentally slid it into neutral (sss auto)a few times, especially if i think im in the Manual/PErf" gate and Im in "ADP/slush" gate- Real fun overtaking a semi - nail foot to floor, stab shift lever forward to pull lower gear..ooops Neutral! - how about a Drive/Neutral lock out Ford? Thats freeway mode.. when im having fun in the twists its 10-2 stuff. quick flick of selector and back to teh wheel.. i Love that sss manual mode. |

Oh yeah, I forgot, it all depends which car I'm driving. When I was still driving the Escort, it was usually left hand on shifter, right arm resting on arm rest with right hand at about 9 on the wheel, and any passengers wishing I had sports seats to stop them moving as much every time I cornered and explored the limits of grip...
I don't drive the XF anywhere near as close to the limit as I used to drive the Escort :(

Right hand about 2-3 o'clock. Elbow on door sill. Hopefully I don't get elbow crater as bathurst77 put it.
Left hand off the wheel majority of the time. Usually resting on console.
