Clinical death is simply not breathing, no pulse. It says nothing of brain activity, of which, there can be plenty even in 'clinical' death. Its also entirely possible that the pulse was weak to the point of not being detected.

It happens. It isnt proof of an afterlife. Doctors call it the Lazarus Phenomenon and while it is rare, it isnt unheard of.

So what you are saying is that; she can't possibly have been 'totally dead' because of a recorded phenomenon called the Lazarus phenomenon. Even though you weren't there, she had been clinically dead long enough to be processed and being wheeled to the morg? And that trained professionals with (I'm guessing) years of experience couldn't get equipment to detect a pulse... Or didn't do due diligence to confirm someone was actually totally dead before sending her on her way to the morg?

I applaud your efforts to rationalise her experience, but it might just be me, but I feel you're stretching a little.

I'm not saying you need to believe any afterlife theory, but to say that in this instance you know better because of a rare known phenomenon that as a result paints everyone in the situation as wrong seems... Well a bit of a stretch.

Haha, careful there might be a scientific reason for those. Surely the internet can prove them!

I never said I know better, I said there were rational explanations. And given there are medical professionals devoting time to research what happens in death, it would suggest that perhaps there is some underlying physiology that explains the various 'observations' those that have died have made.

Reaching for a supernatural explanation as a first resort is the stretch IMO.

What's ironic is that I'm accused of not being open-minded, yet the open-minded refuse to accept the possibility of a rational explanation....

a trained pro just calls the time, they don't keep checking every 30 second in case they made a mistake.

My apologies if I sounded like I was accusing you of not being open minded. My intention was to suggest that we as people don't just write off anything be it supernatural, scientific, extraterrestrial... Whatever.

As I said " it might just be me" but was getting the feeling that you could not entertain the idea of it being anything other than 1 possibility.

Personally I struggle with concepts that aren't proveable.

However in my later years I've realised that whilst not for me, a lot of people get comfort from religion, psychics, faith healers, soothsayers, etc.

If it works for them, it's not my job to tell them how to run their lives.

Good luck to them.

The nieve and simple minded think ghosts and make belive men in the sky are real. If more people realised that their time on earth is the only shot, it would be a better place.

I clinically died after surgery many years ago.
No breathing and no pulse.

I don't consider that dying though.

For me it was no different to going to sleep, one second I was aware the next second I wasnt.
All I knew was when I was revived something wasn't right, the sides of my bed were up and I had a terribly sore mouth as I had fallen out of bed onto the concrete floor. It was only when other patients told me I was the cause of the "code blue" did I realise what had happened.

It was a nice sleep but no St Peter to meet me.

I don't believe you're really dead until all brain activity stops and i dont believe anyone has survived that, so we will never know.

Books/writings/drawings from the dawn of time telling of things unexplained, prophets/preachers being able to predict the future, visions and ghosts. Literally every culture has these concepts.

But then along came "modern" science, and these phenomena are debunked, ridiculed and ignored.

IMO using science to debunk the unexplained is somewhat counterproductive, someone mentioned they struggle with concepts that aren't provable. I struggle with the cult of quantum mechanics and its reliance upon virtual particles?

Is a virtual particle any different to a ghost?

I'd opine that science debunked flat earth (for most people) and debunked that heaven is "up there" - I can't see what is counterproductive about that - unless I miss your meaning?

I'm not up to speed with virtual particles but in any event I don't have the qualifications to make a judgement.

I can guess but that's as good as it gets.

I guess that they are different

Unlike ghosts, many aspects of quantum mechanics can and have been demonstrated through science.

My neighbour is an apparently successful psychic. My Admin girl at work has been to see him, he didn't tell her we were moving in next door. A tree came down from his side over our fence, I cut it off, put it all on his side, no problems, because if there was he would have told me beforehand!

i thought a similar way..some folk use theses things for comfort and guidance..but it always comes with a price tag..which is nothing more than taking advantage of peoples emotions.
