Which one is you? For me it was the day i passed through sydney airport, walked out into blistering heat with $6k in my pocket, a 20kg suitcase thinking "22 years gone by, its good to be home and i can start my life how i want it to be!" |

I'm predicting the best moment of my life will be next Friday morning when I jump on a plane with a mate and go on holidays for 5 weeks throughout Mexico and USA.

I thought I had many best moments in life, I've been lucky and done some pretty cool stuff, done most everything I've ever wanted to do..
Now days, EVERYDAY, I relive the same best moment in my life. It happens when my little boy looks into my eyes, grins, giggles, and provides me with more joy just by doing pretty well nothen, other than look into my eyes. It's taken 40 years to reach this point. The proceeding 40 years I'd give back in a heart beat to keep my little boy.

Proudest moment would be graduating uni with a HD average after not completing school. Landing the dream job before leaving uni was the icing on the cake. Being headhunted to the tune of $200,000 less than six months out of uni was the cherry on top. At the time I felt like a god. Lot of money for a kid and a lot of best moments were lived with it...

The coolest moments in my life in rough chronological order:
Getting my drivers license. The feeling of freedom was unbelievable (at least until the petrol money ran out). Moving out of my craphole home town to Melbourne. Scoring hot laps at Calder with Marcos Ambrose when he first joined SBR. Getting my coupe. Cruising around Bathurst on race morning in a coupe. Meeting my wife. Youngest step-son graduating from TAFE and scoring his building apprenticeship. My Mum finally see rewards for a lifetime of both my parents living on the bones of their asses. My poor Dad didn't get to enjoy it but he's left my Mum well provided for. If I'm half the man my Dad was I'll be happy. And a cool thing happening shortly: Older step-son graduating with his arts degree. He is planning on getting into Teaching and finishing his law degree part time. For all the times I curse my coupe needs this and that done I can never seem to find the money for; for all the times I troll on carsales wishing I could have this or that car; for all the times my wife and I despair about the things our house desperately need - life is good!!

the usual wedding, kids, etc..
finally getting a V8 after wanting one for over 10 years (but always buying the sensible car). landing an apprenticeship in a career that it interesting and i seem to do well at. getting my advanced diploma of electrical engineering, in distinction grade, after studying part time and working full time for 6 years.. have had it for 18months now but don't 'use' the qualification. the year i cracked $100k gross on my payslip - was stoke at that, but took a lot of hours at work..

i cant define the best moment . but one of the best is seeing your children born and meeting them and having them look at you when they are less than 5 minutes old . the look on thier mothers face as they meet the children , nothing can describe that .
there are so many moments in life that are simply the best , and not always during good times , for example , BEING TOLD EXPECT TO DIE AT ANY MINUTE , WHEN I WAS IN HOSPITAL WITH A SUSPECTED HEART ATTACK , and walking out the next day as it was a false alarm . how about the point when i heard those words , accepting it and preparing , love and pure joy of having lived brings you soooo much elation . surviving a car accident , a fall , pnumonia , punctured lung, broken ribs , fractured back , pierced liver , recovering and being over all those can be the best moment of your life at the time . going on in life everyday , accomplishing something , learning something , teaching something , giving something , and taking something . it cannot be defined guys . |

Mate. If you could manage one ounce of respect that would be great! Keep on subject and fingers crossed that sex, drugs and music dont leave you lieing in a gutter somewhere were St Johns or St Vinnies come helping your junkie ***. Wouldnt that be ironic....
I'll pray to that "mythical dude" in the sky to have mercy on your damaged soul.

Standing in front of the War Memorial at 6:30am looking down at Perth city.
Then all of the Red Bull race planes took off from Langly Park to head off to Jandakot Airport as the Red Bull Air Race had finished the day day before. The planes all flew over head in formation and I waved my arms then all of the planes dips their wings up and down as to say "goodby" to me. I felt like a kid standing at the white cliffs of dover in England during world War II waving at the war planes flying over head.

Besides the kids, I have a moment that is car related.
Back in the late '90s, 2 hours alone in a new Lambo Diablo. Pure, Satanic pleasure!

With the exception of the Wedding and Kids being born..
In no particular order. Being at the Footy and watching my son cry as he watched his side win for the first time.. landing an amazing job in the USA and being poached from Aust for it. Having my parents embrace me and tell me how proud they were of my achievements. The look and sensation delivering my kids as my parents first and second grand children along with first great grand children to my grand mother. Hearing my son and daughter call me Daddy for the first time. Having my wife tell me that I had exceeded all of her expectations of when we first got married. (this is simply an amazing feeling) Breaking 100 then 200k per year on the Payslip, although its amazing its only the wife and kids that have pushed me to get here....I only strive for excellence and push myself for their benefit. And the above makes more importance to me as a younger person I was told many times I would not amount to much, I would probably never succeed in what I was to do....

Spending my 40th birthday with my terminally ill Dad. I know he pushed himself to be at my party. He died 3 days later. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him.
Damn you asbestos, you took my hero away from me. |
