There have been four of xr's floating around at Ford in geelong for the last 2 months in octane, they looked like the orange on the xr5 at night

Default Ford release a new orange colour: Octane

First there was Blood Orange. Then there was Mandarin. Now the new orange is called Octane. Check it out at http://www.fpv.com.au/configureprice.aspx

Seen it in the flesh, the MK1 orange was better.

Another example of a thread not correctly titled. I did a search for Octane before I started my thread.

Well now all I need to do is to convince myself to do it - that is to get a BF2 XR8 in Octane with six speed manual for my next company car.

What do you think chich?

I'm not a fan of it. Reminds me of the old Telecom company cars of the 1980's.

Haven't seen one in the flesh yet but it looks a lot like the colour on my XY - 'Surfer orange,' was first released with the XWs, needs stripes to give that little bit extra I reckon & more in keeping with the 70s muscle car colour schemes.

What name do you recommend?

I think "Baby Vomit", "Orange Puke" or maybe "Cooked Carrot" are three nice, marketable names.

But seriously, I don't mind it. It is a bit different, but it isn't bad.

you must remember the colours usually look nothing like they do in the flesh. I don't really like the octane paint, i see they have another one called 'breeze' there too, which looks horrible. Also notice they're discontinuing mercury silver, bout time, way too many mercury falcons out there. Also menace is going... thank god!

Well pure petrol without artificial colouring in it is a straweyish brownyish orange so I suspect that is where the named comes from. Shame there is bugger all octane in petrol

Well as mentioned in my first post, i was back at Ford this morning and saw two BF utes, one an XR8 the other XR6 in the rear carpark. This time they were painted in a colour similar to "everglade" in the E series, any one shed some light?

Whilst in the same carpark i noticed an area cordoned off, what really got my attention was the red VE SS and what looked like a VE base model. This time i had my camera phone ready to take some pics, but i thought i had better move on as the guy coming towards me from where the cars were did not look very happy at all!!
Do you think they were going to do their own research and testing?
