Is it just me or do these GT's seem to *dent* quite easy...
I mean, please don't tell me that's the pole it hit.. Surely it can't be? Plus there's no marks on the road..

There’s an exclusive club for people that have pranged these things. Here’s a few more.

Thanks for the link Gammaboy, that would be one slightly annoyed salesman.

Cheers, Danny

Hmmm. more evidence of black/no stripes being defective.....

Just because its on dealer or temporary plates doesn't mean its a demo :P
He may well have picked the car up that night. The car at the start of the thread was wearing temporary plates too.

I think it’s a carbon composite. The occupants apparently had to exit through the passenger's door which suggests some real structural problems... which is why it has been deemed written off.

The damage is really pretty scary once you realize that the pole is aimed somewhere toward the passenger's crotch. The passenger must have had one leg on either side of the pole. :

i reckon he was going for some fully sick air off that ledge there... but chickened out and tried to lean against the pole where all the other cool cars are...

or it was piloted by an idiot

Hmmmm....we should start a tally of how many Ford GTs vs. how many Enzos have been written off since they started on the market. It'd be interesting to see those numbers IMO.

Can we add Porsche Carrera GTs to the poll too?
They seem to be getting written off at an alarming rate too.

Its funny, I watch that ad and just think "I see the problem, its too heavy and doesn't have enough power..."
I had some severly modified slot cars as a kid though.

What a waste. Kinda reminds me of the brand new TS50 ordered by customer at a Ford dealership on the Mid North Coast I once worked for. The car came straight off the back of the delivery truck, filled with fuel, and then taken for a test drive by the bosses test pilot son . It wouldn't have been at the dealership longer than 10 mins. It was the last we ever saw of it. The car was destroyed among some tree's when he failed to negotiate a bend 20 mins later. The car was towed to the bosses garage, and eventually sent back to Tickford, who demanded the car back. The customer was not impressed, took his business elsewhere.

I reckon its a write off. I reckon the cabin capsule would be distorted, of at least the floor pan buckled.

The pole cut all the way through to the bonnet and up to the firewall area which would have copped the full force of the impact. Both airbags have been set off which tells you it was a heavy hit.

I've seen a BMW with a straight six that hit a yellow Macca's parking pole with a bit of speed. The pole went in just on the inside of the passenger headlight and stopped the car only when it the pole was that deep it would have been alongside the engine block resting on the cross member. It went a long way it and did a lot of damage but from the outside it looked very fixable. Would actually have been a ripper parts car.

Heard of a similar thing when a taxi went up one of those yellow concredte tram track dividers. Barely bent a panel but underneath the car the impact forces has stuffed all the mounting points on the engine and trans and pushed the lot back into the firewall and buckled the floor.
