I can't say I haven't sped before, cause everyone that knows me on the Sunny Coast knows thats a damn lie.
But after seeing what undercover cars the police are getting round in now, definately made me think twice about it.

I've had one speeding ticket that was 4 years ago when I was 18, and before City Link changed their rules I got a fine cos my e-tag had no credit.
My GF copped 2 in a week in November- one on a speeding camera, (68 in a 60 zone) and the other the copper chased her down the freeway. (124 in a 110 zone). Bloddy lead foot she is!!!

NO doubt about it the super strict enforcement here in Victoria has made me drop my average speed just a little so I don't get fined. Interestingly I've had the the same number of accidents as before. NONE.

Cruise also isnt a good idea on the Princess Hwy near Berwick where the speed limit changes 7 times in a 2km section of road. Doing less than the speed limit doesnt make you a good driver - I saw a driver today, they were doing 90k's in the right hand land of the M1 and then they realised they needed to turn left, so they simply tried to cut across traffic - net result he/she almost caused an accident and ended up stranded on the median. Yet they will most likely never receive a speeding fine.

Yet every day hundreds of thousands of people manage quite succesfully to process data received via vision of the posted speed limits and apply that data through their right foot against the brake while monitoring their speedo with a brief 0.01 of a second glance without the slightest hint of an accident or issue....

someone should go and spraypaint those fixed cameras.
Just revenue raising, getting people doing a few km over the limit. |
