I think this was probably an ammunition store for a nearby Luftwaffe AA gun. The AA gun was probably mounted where the shed now stands. The ammo was probably stored in the space below the "trap door". When it was need it would be brought up to the tunnel and sent along it by a cart on rails to awaiting men to take it to the gun. It was probably used as an air raid shelter from time to time. The Lee Enfields (the guns they found) were probably left there by Allied forces when that area was recaptured later in the war.
